Uniform/Helmet/Shoe design thread (merged)

I'm with you. Adidas apparel always felt higher quality and lasted longer. Even now, I tend to prefer the cut and construction of my older Adidas Vol gear. I've got Nike stuff but it always manages to feel cheap. I don't quite know how to describe it. Every apparel manufacturer looks for ways to save on their production costs, but Nike's gear always feels like they not only price higher but spend even less to manufacture. They've had some good designs along the way, but a lot of forgettable and even ugly patterns too. So. No love lost either way.
I feel this way except literally the exact opposite in every way lmao

Tennessee's apparel deal ends June 30, 2026. There might be news sooner rather than later.
DP a few questions if I may.

1. Will uniforms for 2026 season be ordered through Adidas this year or not until the contract expires which would push the first game in Adidas to 2027?

2. Who owns the rights to the dark mode branding and uniform design?

3. Will new uniform designs be released at the time of ordering or not likely until the season they begin wearing them?

4. You talked about this when Tennessee left Adidas for Nike, but do you think Tennessee will be one of Adidas’ top priorities?

Adidas is garbage. Everything looks cheap and their designs are terrible. Their Smokey greys with the white helmets were trash. Those white jerseys with some checkerboard pattern in the numbers looked like a child’s design.

This isn’t a European soccer program. Kids prefer Nike.

The Nike uniforms are objectively better.

But.....

Nike fan gear is trash. Bought some when we switched and it all fell apart within 2 years. Meanwhile my old Adidas stuff is still going.

I bought my first pair of Nike shoes in 20 years a few months ago. $150 bucks for a pair of Air Max. As they broke in, the dang things squeak like there's no tomorrow. Totally unwearable after 3 months. There is no fixing it either. Those will be my last pair of Nikes, not that I could wear many anyway. 90% are to narrow to go on my feet.

Can we keep Nike unis for the school and switch to Adidas for fan gear?

I’m with you, this is just nuts. Athletes prefer Nike, and what about dollars on the backed with merch sales? Go look up “university” on the Adidas website and tell me how that goes.

Pivoting to Adidas would be a travesty and Danny should be embarrassed.
I’d love to hear what the athletes think about this potential move. Nobody wants to wear Adidas, especially in basketball. The only thing, and I stress only thing, adidas does well is make a good throwback.

Hey hey...I occasionally trot out an old Adidas shirt for a game.

Not too proud.

From a clothing standpoint, I think that Adidas made better jackets (they had a pretty solid collection of retro ones that I still wear) and I really liked some of their long sleeve t-shirts. Just a byproduct of the times, but it'll be hard for me to ever replace the Pat Summitt "Forever A Lady Vol" shirt they gave out way back when.

But that's what eBay's for. I feel that Adidas really just started mailing it in with their college athletics products and (to a much smaller extent than player satisfaction) I think that having brand recognition/spread by way of merch sales is important.

I think Nike did a better job than Adidas. I also think Nike is has gotten worst in their uniform design and quality. The uniform doesn't really matter as much as it use to in the NIL era. I think as a fan I like Adidas gear more.
