I thought about picking up the collection on PS4. I might do it backwards and go get that after I finish 4. I also might try to find a used copy of Golden Abyss for my Vita. I beat it about 3 years ago, and it is probably the best Vita game I owned.

I'm always skeptical when ratings drop. I think Halo ODST had really good ratings too.
Not saying this game will suck, probably the opposite, but I've learned to disregard the numbers.

ODST didn't have this high of ratings across the board. Many were critical of the price because of the campaign being so short.

I'm playing the first one, and it's alright for a near 10 year old game. Are all of these games pretty much platforming, shoot from cover, rinse and repeat? Is it the story that is so compelling?

It's the whole package. Don't judge the series based on the first one because that one by far is the most inferior. 10 years ago it was considered cutting edge. Even the jump from 1 to 2 is quite big. Uncharted 4 is really great! Uncharted is one of those series where the whole is greater than the sum of it's parts. Gameplay wise it doesn't reinvent the wheel or anything but it's the production value in graphics, the characters, the story, the voice acting, the immersion, etc that make it stand out. Stick with it and play the HD trilogy and then play 4. I promise in the end you'll be an Uncharted fan!

I played some of the beta earlier. I've actually never played any of the previous MP. It's a bit unique and different than most.

I'm pretty sure I've played the previous 3 but have never finished any of them. I seem to really enjoy the first 6-10 hours then get tired of them. I think I'm going to rent this one when I have some time over a weekend.

UC 2 is the best of the series followed by 3 then 1 in a distant last. I, personally would skip 1

Yeah but it's important in the sense that 1 is where these characters are introduced. You see how Nathan and Elena's relationship was formed, along with Sully. I agree it's the weakest game in the series but the story elements are there.

I'm too much of a completionist to not play it. That would bother me way more than I admit it should. Just like the spelling of Thief in the thread title lol (Sorry Brave :p)

Golden Abyss on the Vita is good too, probably the best Vita game that's been released. Though I wouldn't go pick up a Vita just to play it since the system is pretty much dead.

You're definitely playing it the right way. I would NOT recommend Uncharted 4 to anyone who hasn't played the first 3. There's just too many tie ins and references to the previous games that a newbie would have no clue what they were talking about and it wouldn't have as much impact.

I'll check that out too, but that system has incredible JRPGs. Persona 4 may be one of the best ever, if you like the genre.
