I'm just an amateur here :hi:

Just thought they fit the profile based off the pic we're seeing.

No, you're probably right. The 2S1 is really the only one that fits. Just a bad angle and distance on the photo so it probably doesn't look proportional.

Either way, SP guns are part of the Divisional level assets under the Russian structure, so at least part of a division is on the ground.

Looked at it closer you're right. I'm on mobile teeny screen. You referencing the worldwide equipment guide over there?

Yep, it's called Google Images lol

Looked it up in the WEG and It appears Burhead is correct. The tube might be in some form of travel position maybe.

While a formidable force, the Russians are working with outdated equipment in a number of areas. I recall how unhappy the Russian generals were with the losses they took against Georgia.

Partly that, partly wiki sources, and partly other research I've done in the past :hi:

Military equipment has always been a hobby of mine, especially Soviet/Russian/Eastern bloc stuff.

The worldwide equipment guide has all of that. Any possible variations along with ranges by armament type.

Got it all wrong my friend. Those just have those big flags that say "boom" on them that pop out.

Putin, that big kidder!

Chassis looks a bit long for a 2S1, but nothing else fits in all seriousness. Either way, SP guns rolling into the Ukraine is not exactly what I would send in for "defensive" measures. This could get way more serious if Russia backs Yanukovich.

If Putin isn't careful he is going to stir up the Tatars in Crimea and create a mini-Chechnya there.

That would pretty much make it SP Arty like our paladin.

No, it was an MBT with a 152mm main gun system kind of like the Sheridan was with it's over sized main gun. Apparently the Russians took the old saying of "warhead vs armor" to a new level by upping the caliber of the main gun. It ended up getting cancelled with the Russians deciding on upgrades to the T-90 series.

Not sure it would have been useful though as it would have required an autoloader like they currently have as well as a decreased capacity for ammo stores.

Our equipment is much better. For example, Abrams>T-90.

It is now, but they have had a few moments of inspiration. The Mi-24 for example was ahead of anything we were fielding at the time and really only suffered from the lack of sophisticated anti-tank armament. And they were years ahead of us in IFV design and production when you consider the BMP series had been in service for 15 years before the Bradley came on the scene.

Sometimes the Russians got it right, but tended to focus on quantity over quality instead of incremental upgrades to the systems they had.

Is there a chance we go to war with Russia?

No rational American president would start a war with Russia over Crimea.

Why would we? It was already semi-autonomous. It's pro-Russian, with a Russian majority, with Russian military bases.

What would be the point? To force citizens to remain in a country they may not wish to be part of?

Guy looks composed. Interestingly, this part didn't make the Russian TV coverage.

You say that with a note of mourning.

2 reasons why... It is a sad day when a group or groups can and will prevent a good president from being elected and conversely get a terrible man elected. All because they make news instead of reporting news. If you ask me if I'd rather McCain/Palin had served our country the last 6 years instead of Obma/Palin I'd tell you yes, no doubt. Couldnt be worse.

I am not saying McCain would be a worse president than Obama, but I will say regardless of who is sitting in the White House, it could most definitely be worse.

We all know obama ain't going to do shizzle right? His speech was more limp than his "Syria line in the sand" buffoonery.

Honestly, it's really amazing how you guys hate Russia.

Putin's Russia is a faux conservative wet dream.

It's no wonder some of you liked that meme previously posted, whether or not it's actually legit.

But, to be sure, yes, Russia has a flat tax, hates gays, and discourages dissent (to say the least) against the establishment.

Honestly, you all might prefer Russia. I know that seemed odd during the Cold War, but it's apparently your destination now. And Vlad is your guy.

Damn commie socialists fascists bastards!

Liberal America is our one hope! I mean our FFs were liberals, so why not liberals carry the badge today?

Liberals in 1776 and the 1800's do not equal liberals of today. I would say they are very much polar opposites.
