Ukraine Protests

Union activists in Kaluga, Russia are being arrested as working with foreign agents to undermine Russia. More and more stories of even union activists being arrested, harassed, etc. I guess the fascist paranoia is now a means of going after scapegoats and "threats" to the state. Events like this are just like Stalin's days. If Putin does not like you, you will be blamed for some trumped up charge. But yet somehow the US or Ukraine are pointed to with charges of fascism.

They love Putin and Russia and hate Poroshenko and Ukraine. Ukraine is all Nazis and fascists. But they still want Ukraine to pay them social benefits. I'm sure Russian provocateurs are the ones instigating this. Needless to say this could be used by Poroshenko to justify the vote from the Rada last week about having local elections according to the Ukrainian constitution before going further on Minsk II.

The more I read stories about these "foreign agent" witchhunts the more I laugh. Apparently, this is even beyond what Obama did with IRS and Tea Party groups. Anyone that speaks out against actions in Ukraine gets somehow labeled a foreign agent and fined, harassed, etc. But again, let's praise Putin and call Obama the real fascist. No defender of Obama but seriously saying Obama is the fascist and Putin is not is truly laughable.

Maybe it's just the old country boy in me, but, if I was Denmark, I'd expel this Russian clown. And I'd expel any Russian diplomat until they found a way to act like civilized human beings. If I was a Danish citizen, my ire would be raised.

Can you imagine the US (or any US diplomat, politician, etc.) threatening other countries with nuclear weapons, like this asshat? And he's a Russian diplomat. To put this is terms that Ras and Pacer can understand, that means he is an official sanctioned by Vladimir Putin and the Kremlin. And still sanctioned by them.

I know people like throwing out how the US is the only country that used nuclear weapons on another nation. The issue now is what leaders in the world are threatening other nations with nuclear weapons and nuclear annihilation. Let's see...we have Iran, North Korea, and Russia. The ones that Russia trashes as fascist are merely trying to secure missile defense shields to protect themselves from the mad Putin.

I don't necessarily think Putin is mad. I just think he's a hypocritical *******.

Russia has screwed them over so many times on gas prices, if Ukraine can find other means it will be justice served for them.

WTF are you talking about? Russia was giving them a more favorable rate than the rest of Europe and the Ukraine was still siphoning gas and ran up a $4 billion bar tab. I think Russia was more than generous with them.

Instead of just regurgitating the RT and other Russian lines go do some homework on all the negotiated prices. Spend some time checking out the actual terms of the deals. Spend some more time seeing how the prices negotiated were fixed but somehow they managed to still go up even with fixed terms. As long as you are at it spend some time researching the Kharkiv Accord. This was a fixed price deal negotiated by Yanukovich that gave Russia the lease on naval bases in Crimea. Note how this agreement was actually an illegal and unconstitutional agreement. Also, make sure you note how the vote in the Rada transpired with Yanukovich's goons blocking the doors to the opposition trying to not only speak out on this but to vote against this. You may note how Russia got the newest lease and how illegal it was and how thuggery was used to ensure that the opposition could not impeach him for this. Keep all that in mind when you discuss the "coup" and the illegal government you talk about in control now.

As you dig through the facts on this particular accord, you will see how the fixed prices actually doubled within three years of the signing of this accord. Amazing how fixed terms/pricing can still result in a doubling of the price over the course of a few years. The price agreed to was NOT the price that was paid. Tell me how any of that is fair. What's even more "fair" is that part of the lease cost was supposed to address the cost of the gas. Russia just steals control and cancels that method of negotiated payment. Yes, it's completely fair.

As evidenced by his crushing of Chechen independence.

That about that Russian ambassador threatening Denmark really burns me up though. Maybe he's just some rogue diplomat, running his mouth, and Putin will tell him to shove it, but it appears to me as more Russian "we don't like what you're doing, so we're going to threaten you" bullying. Running military drills with 100,000 odd troops is one thing, but pulling the nuke card is another. That was faux pas even during the Cold War.
