Kavkaz Center reporting that Kadyrov is trying to flee to Jordan. Are we sure Tom Clancy's ghost isn't pulling the strings here?

I can't take this **** no more.

Damn you, Funk and Wagnall's, for building my love of Russian history, politics, and culture when I was just a little piss ant. Damn you to hell!

Why couldn't it have been a normal country!

I looked up KavKaz Center, and apparently it is the Caucasian Emirate's "independent" news agency.

I'd hold off throwing my cards into that story just yet. Although anything is possible.

So, Eastern European watchers, for entertainment purposes only, what do you think is the most likely Putin MIA scenario:

(a) Nothing really wrong, he just disappeared for a week or two without explanation.

(b) He has a short-term health issue (bad flu, surgery). He'll be back.

(c) He has a major health issue (stroke, cancer, dead) that may incapacitate him.

(d) Major internal political issue (infighting, coup) that threatens the stability of the government.

(e) Other [be specific]

(c) means he won't be back for long enough to finish his term, unless he pulls a Woodrow Wilson.

Eh, you can have a major health scare, and still be back in action sooner than one would think.

But, okay, let's say he doesn't come back then.

Nah, I don't go for that. Putin is eternal. He'll live forever.

Putin: Russia prepared raising nuclear readiness over Crimea

So they were already drafting plans for a post-Yany Ukraine even before it was post-Yany, yet they weren't. It was a CIA coup.

So they are ready to wave nuclear weapons in everyone's face, constantly talk about blowing the US back to the stone age, yet want world peace and stability.

I can't even keep track of the narrative. It's this, but it's that. That, but this again. Over and over.

If this regime doesn't at least give you some pause, you've got a problem. Don't feel Ras's warm and fuzzies about Russia. There's nothing warm and fuzzy about it.

Maybe it's all just political bluster, but the way in which Russia's president, its politicians, and even its citizens just casually throw around nuclear arms and nuclear war banter really is alarming. Even the Soviets didn't sink to such lows.

I'm starting to think there are some elements of Russian politics and society who really think they could win a nuclear war relatively unscathed.

Yeah it really stomps a mud hole in their whole victim and response to Western actions narrative. Trolls got paid big bucks to argue that line for over a year and Putin himself just unraveled the whole thing in one documentary. All this does is confirm an illegal action and the fact he lied for a year. A crime was committed, he admits to it, says he was willing to go nuclear for it, and is now telling the world "so what?" Correct. There is nothing warm and fuzzy that you have a fascist dictator willing to break international laws to invade and seize land from neighbors and even use nukes as blackmail to back opposition down. If Hitler had that power we might not be here. The scary thing is that there are some even nuttier people than Vlad in Moscow capable of even worse.

"Where's Putin?" has killed any news on the Nemtsov investigation. Putin is doing more to promote 'regime change' than Nemtsov's death. Is Vlad in on a CIA conspiracy?

Yes, I'd like to know as well.

Hey, wouldn't it be something if Putin is really just a CIA agent meant to tank Russia's economy and political standing? Talk about the greatest troll job in history.

Could you imagine Ras if that ever came out (not that he'd ever buy it)? But my god, the tears. No baby binky on Earth could help him.

I see the scene from Super Troopers where Farva comes in with the soap laden coffee.

"I got you good you ****er!"

Oh, there's apparently a 16th Century cathedral or convent or something like that on fire in Moscow.

The Victory Day tanks were probably just a little itchy on the trigger.

According to the Twitters, the main Russian news channel didn't interrupt programming to cover the fire.

Much different than TV news here, where they drop everything for live video.
