Ukraine Protests

It's an interesting war game to be had. Can numbers outweigh the technological advantage of our fleet today? Corvettes are kind of a interesting class since they are purpose designed and a little better armed and armored than the standard missile or torpedo boat. But still lack the sophistication and multi-purpose roles of frigates and larger classes.

I think it depends greatly on the class of ship they are taking on.

i have wondered about the efficacy of some of these weapons the Russians push around, as well as the Iranian 'anti American missile'. how effective is our stuff vs them? namely the Phalanx. our stuff gets battle tested so we know 90% of it works as advertised, Russian stuff not so much.

Merkel not going to the 70th anniversary to the end of WWII celebration in Moscow after all. Based on the rumors on here I've been expecting her to turn east and run into Putin's embracing arms. I guess we will have to wait a little longer.

I wouldn't think WWII celebrations would be that big in Germany.

A few Russian "freelancers" getting upset because their recruiting drive at the Luhansk bus and train station is not bearing fruit. They whine and gripe that none of the locals join to fight the cause that Russians have to come and fight for. Apparently, counter to Ras and Pacer, this is not some mass local uprising after all. The men all scatter and the babushkas and wives have to argue back.

On this site, it isn't. But, in American society at large, yes, you're right.

Oh, god, I turned this into yet another religious thread.

NO! It was you Grand! It was YOU!!!

I just wanted to feel like Ras for a moment. I mean, he blames the crisis on everyone but the Russians, so why should Christians be exempt from the fun?

It absolutely disgusts me that you seem to seriously (although I still internally debate about your sincerity) believe such drivel.

From the opening sentence blaming the breakup of Yugoslavia, a fabricated nation to begin with, on the US, I knew we were already in for a long-winding, very slippery ride. Stopped reading after the second paragraph or so, because it only got dumber from there.

If anyone should have put anyone on here on Ignore, it should have been me putting you and Rastradamus on the Ignore button.

But, as they say, "Fascists gonna fascist." And my god, it is amusing to watch.

Too entertaining.

No idea what's being said, but that's not a recent video. Unless people in Luhansk wear shorts in the winter.

My guess this was last summer. Hearing artillery I would say this was around the time of the collapse and why no one cared about fighting. And then as we know Russians came across the border to change this. But even now the locals are not on board.

Seems Vlad cancelled a trip out of country and apparently has not been seen for a few days. Anyone seen Vladimir Vladimirovich?

Vladimir Putin for almost a week does not appear in public, "RBK Daily" . According to the newspaper, the last time reporters saw the President on March 5, the day of the meeting with Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi.

In the following days, Putin spent only non-public meeting with officials in which there was no press. Putin's meeting with women whose children have achieved outstanding success in different areas, though, and was shown on television on March 8, took place and was recorded a few days earlier.

Recall that this afternoon, Reuters, citing a source in the government of Kazakhstan has reported that the meeting in Astana, the presidents of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan, which was to be held on March 12-13, will not take place due to illness Putin. Several hours later, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told the news agency Bloomberg, that Putin is absolutely healthy.

Must have some Lil' Kim last early fall mess.

That's how you always know you have a good authoritarian society: the weakness of the god is never admitted until the god finally kicks the dirt.

Honestly, Russia is starting to give North Korea a run for its goofy-ass money.

NK still has it beat, but Russia is catching up.

it just gets worse and worse as you read on. incomplete thoughts, obvious holes in the argument, some topics that are mentioned are never developed. I put myself in the shoes of the writer each time i read something, and try and determine if I could argue their perspective from the information posted in the articles. Most of the time I couldn't see myself winning an argument with what is given, but Pravada is the worst. the whole argument relies on a general assumption that the US is responsible for every thing since WWII and that if the US touched it it must be evil.

We need a little for Patrick Swayze in this thread, and a little less Steven Seagal.

I give you credit for suffering it out. I'm not sure how you do that. I typically stop reading after the first few paragraphs (at the most).

At least MSM, as they like to call it, doesn't rely upon a general blame Russia for everything bad ever premise to help form each news report.

And, if anyone thinks America is to blame for everything ever, as I've said before, you're a bigger American exceptionalist than I am, and you make me sick.
