Here is the classic spin move....
The viral media concept is headlines that craft the message. People usually grab a headline and typically the first paragraph or two of the story. And then they run with that being the truth. This is most effective on social media. Most of the crap that gets repeated is based on spun headlines. Few people bother to read the rest and in context.
Headline of this article:
No Evidence of Russian Military Hardware Presence in Ukraine Hollande
The lead crafts the message that Hollande says there is no proof that Russian hardware is in this region. Russian trolls run with this. The Russian public sees a Western president declaring Russian equipment is NOT in Ukraine counter to the Western media claims. BUT let's look at context in the rest of the article....
Hollande's comments were in regard to a
specific incident and NOT in general, across the board during the history of the conflict. In all of Russia's crying about spin and distortion of Western media they fail to admit they use this practice religiously. What they accuse the West of doing and what they claim is wrong is simply a norm for their media. It seems Russian media is no different than the American media they claim is so corrupt.
