Ukraine Protests

Believable that there is an agreement. Of course whether the agreement actually means anything is an entirely different matter.

Either way, the fact that this comes on the heels of a separatist victory suggests it's not going to be of much benefit to Kyiv.

The agreement is a very bad sign for Kiev. After a surprise offensive against Donetsk was thwarted within days by militia, the calling up of 50k conscripts aged 25-60, it's looking bad for a united Ukraine.

The people of Ukraine do not want this civil war....only the puppet regime in Kiev and their bosses. This is what happens when you try to break up a historical relationship between two countries and try to incorporate it into your own sphere of influence..

The people threw fought and died on the Maidan to join the West...

Also that "militia" is Russian regulars, let's not kid ourselves.

Of course the majority of Ukrainians don't want a war. I wouldn't want a war if I were them either.

Majority of Americans don't want to get involved in the Middle East again.

Majority of Russians don't want Russian troops actually in Ukraine.

that is not true. the people of ukraine have a closer tie to russia than the west. it is so obvious, but you are buying in to the idea that the west aare the saints and russia is th devil. looking at the situation right now, how can anyone argue for ukraine to join the EU or NATO?

dude look at the fricking polls, even before Maidan, they were in favor of stronger ties with the West. thats why the old Ukrainian government was trying to push through a deal.

But indiscriminately shelling schools, hospitals and civilian homes where children and elderly are being killed every day is okay?!?

These soldiers and their corrupt leaders in Kiev deserve a lot worse than being spit on..

It's a difficult situation, no doubt.

However, I'd recommend not embedding intentionally with civilians to anyone hoping to avoid civilian casualties.

Common sense is common sense.

It's like the Israeli-Palestine conflict, and, believe me, I'm no fan of Israel. Most useless ally the US has ever had, in my book, but...

Militant Palestinians embed with civilians, fire rockets, get fired back at, then get the privilege of whinning to Western and Middle Eastern media sources about how the evil Israelis are firing upon them indiscriminately. Even genocide, my god!

It's mouthbreathing bull****.

The US will say anything to keep alternative news from reaching the masses....any extreme to keep Americans misinformed.

man i am glad the bastion of freedom that is Russia hasn't done anything to encourage foreign news providers from leaving......

CNN to end broadcasting in Russia - AOL.com

CNN and several other smaller US based networks have left Russia due to some new(ish) laws over there. I believe the law says you can only operate in Russia if you are no more than 20% foreignly owned.

however I don't agree that RT should be mentioned with ISIS. just my two cents.

What the heck is that gang practicing mobilization and drills for? Moldova, Ukraine, and the US suddenly going to sweep in after leaving it alone for almost 25 years and counting or something?

Would provide an excellent second front if Putin went that angle. Also the separatist leaders have refused truce talks and are saying they are going on the offensive. This is probably the worst fighting since late spring/early summer.

20Committee posted a new article on Ukraine worth the read. He predicts that Ukraine will be partitioned as follows;

Novorossiya (Eastern Ukraine) - Annexed like Crimea into Russia
Middle of the country, including Kiev - Will become a buffer/vassal state of the Kremlin
Western Ukraine - Will become independent and will be allowed to join the European Union and NATO by Putin if they wish.

The people who support what the Ukrainian govt is doing, like yourself..

I know I've been a complete poothead to some folks on this site, yourself included, and I'm trying to temper that significantly.

It's getting difficult, however, to keep taking you seriously.

The Black Hundreds would be proud.

Likewise..

You just accused Americans of not being able to gain access to alternative media, despite the fact that the whole world is at our fingertips while Russia moves to an intranet system, then completely "red herring-ed" Velo.

Explain yourself, sir. You FSB?
