Ukraine Protests

While hyperbolic, the general point is accurate.

I'm sick of the US' foreign policy. I'm sick of the "damned if they do, damned if they don't" issues we face.

While American isolationism actually plays into the hand of the Russians, I'm in favor of it. I'm sick of spending billions-trillions to try to stabilize a nation only to have it yell for us to leave and then descend into chaos within a year or two... after signing over massive contracts for our very adversaries.

Just focus on trade with our partners in Asia/Europe and establishing better ties with South America. Outside of that? Screw 'em. Boko Haram wants to slaughter people? ISIS wants to slaughter people?

It's cold, but I'm sick of it being our problem.

China has benefited from our foreign policy just as much as anyone. As long as the US is willing to do it first (and has the capability), China will be perfectly content just playing the part of second-fiddle on the world stage. Second-fiddle for them is actually more rewarding than the lead. One reason why I've not completely bought into the "it's just a matter of time before China passes the US as the world's premiere power" argument. Why waste your own money, resources, and military when you can let the other guy do it for free?

Pretty much. They're basically saving their fuel and are just slipstreaming us.

They're doing to us what we did to the Soviets in the Cold War. And we continue to give them plenty cause and means to do it, that's the depressing thing.

The Ukrainian patriots bought surplus modern Russian equipment at Army-Navy store. US has these, yes? Just like US, bought surplus modern equipment. Ukrainian patriots flock to good Russian Marine uniforms.

Not stupid and weak like American or British Marines. Stronk Russian Marines. Makes them fight better.

this goes beyond oopsy. this is the proof smacking Ras in the face. here is the good quality video evidence he wanted all along, and whats funny is that it is provided by a Russian source. Now Ukraine has every right to take this case before the world and get UN help.

this opens up a large can of worms which could lead to more war.

Eh, the Kremlin will just explain it by doubling-down on the "tourist soldier" narrative they've been using ever since it's been painfully obvious even battalion-sized Russian forces have been operating there. Just Russian regulars on vacay, deciding to winter in the Donbass.

The Kremlin has a narrative for everything and, quite frankly, as long as it creates enough doubt, namely among the Russian people, it doesn't really matter. They'll still eat out of the Kremlin spoon.

My biggest thing is not necessarily that Russian troops are there. As I've said before on here (although I don't often tote it), when you have a world perspective like Russia does, they're actually justified in interfering there. Just as much as us in Iraq with WMDs. Maybe even more so.

I just want that side to admit their troops are there though. The constant denial and subterfuge is just getting grade-schoolish.

That reminds me. It's always fun reading the posts on RT forums about "sissy, gay" American soldiers, with their "homo*****" PTSD. Always gives me a good laugh, especially since most of those comments are probably posted by Boris from his mother's basement in Kazan.

For a site that's ostensibly so concerned about US "warmongering," they sure are constantly caught up in weapons, nukes, and military matters.

because i know the question is coming, 1. the location of the patch is where the russian marines wear that patch. 2. before items go to surplus stores or get left outside in the rain until some one picks it up all insignia are removed. for this very reason. 3. that man in particular is festooned with other military gear that lines up with Russian Marine issued gear, this wasn't mix and match at Vlad's All Authentic Black Market. 4. look at old pics of the fighting at the airport. look at the pics of the rebels fighting the 'Cyborgs', now look at pics of these new guys who finally kicked out the 'Cyborgs' different level of fighting gear. coincidence?

Well, I haven't thought about being lost. Good point, Pacer. Their GPS may be malfunctioning again.

Last I've heard the Cyborgs are still there and holding the terminal building. Also think we need to give a tip of the cap to them, if anyone has seen the airport and the condition they are fighting in, you'd want these guys on your team any day. :hi:

Something tells me they haven't seen 9th Company.

It's actually a pretty decent flick about Soviet involvement in Afghanistan. Nor seen some of the ... disturbing videos about Chechens and Russians. Be very careful looking up anything about that.

But with that said, RT is rife with astroturfing I alluded to earlier. It's convincing RT readers that the West is weak and effeminate and Russia is stronk.

ah, i may just be mis-remembering reports of them being pushed out of one building as them being pushed out of all of it. and yeah they are BA.

Actually saw that a few years ago. I think the movie on YouTube still.

Not going to go on record and say this video is irrefutable, but I must admit he looks the part of a Russian marine.

And you're right. They have just as much reason to be there as we did in Iraq, if not more. I think Putin made a blunder early on by not rolling in the Russian army at the onset. Many lives would've been saved IMO.

The US didn't roll into Iraq and turn around and say "we're not in Iraq".

The US didn't forcibly annex Iraq, either. It was a prolonged process but we did turn them over to their own (against us in every accord) parliment.

When Russia leaves Ukraine and witnesses them vote to join the EU and NATO and then sign over leasing rights of the pipeline going across the region of Ukraine that the fighting is over... then we'll talk about parallels.

NOTE: I was opposed to Iraq then and now. This is nothing like Iraq.
