Ukraine Protests

These are just a few examples mind you but the methods being used to stir up tensions as well as provide news orgs in Russia the means of justifying a tough attitude toward these nations.

What I should have said is that they aren't covert operations.

Vietnam has also increased their defense spending after the Chinese blew up three of their "military vessels" at whichever islands they are fighting over.

While Indonesia and the Phillippines are admittedly weak, when you add Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, Phillipines, Vietnam, and Indonesia all together (probably in no concerted alliance) you have somewhere around 500-600 million people and enough resources to keep a China threat at bay (not to weaken China, but to keep it at bay).

Yes, China has issues with its neighbors, but I don't see how this would rise to an effective alliance which would effectively stop China from building whatever it wants to build (including a military).

What are they going to do? Impose sanctions?

right now the thing that China lacks is fuel, either oil or gas. Now it can import from Russia who is looking for anyone who will buy, but in this scenario China is trying to go independent so they want their own source. Which is exactly why they are claiming South East Pacific Islands/Water 600 miles from their shoreline, most of the islands have vast reserves of oil. so if those nations keep what should be theirs (look at the map) China's Maritime Disputes they cut China off from oil effectively stopping China's bid to independence before it begins. And militarily taking those islands could draw in various nations. (just give the link a good read over and it explains things)

Assuming you get a China that wants to start influencing politics elsewhere, particularly in its neighbors, then you have a bunch of nations that can keep things from going out and keep things from going in. In other words, Asia before America.

I want to make it clear that nothing is really preventing China from being a major world power. They already are. I just don't see them becoming a superpower according to my definition of the term.

Plus, they haven't invented anything new since gunpowder.

I'm still waiting for China to make a claim on the Great Barrier Reef once they "learn" coral and sharks produce crude oil.

Everyone is an enemy or threat that doesn't submit to our global hegemony.

You're not very familiar with what's going on in Venezuela, are you? That country's current leader is bat****. He makes Chavez look like the greatest statesman of the last half-century.

The only reason why China seems to be seeking an alternative economic model at the moment is because it's printed more money than it knows what to do with (I've heard more than the American dollar is in circulation) and needs some outlet for actually using it (it's only worth its initial value if it can be spent). If that system were to be removed, China would go down in a hurry. And a major war would probably result.

China's currency is pegged to the dollar, that's why they have to print more than they know what to do with. The US has printed an insane amount over the last few years. Typically they'd invest their excess yuan in US treasuries, but they now realize that isn't a good investment.

I agree with your last sentence. Unfortunately, the groups that created this mess won't be the ones held accountable. In fact, they'll probably profit from it.

We can squabble over the reasons, but it's clear that China has not managed things any more soundly than we have. Difference is, we actually control the system. China can seek an alternative, but it's this very system that made it a fat cat in the first place. If they want out, then they're going to have to pay for it themselves. And that's going to potentially come in blood. The US keeps Chinese goods flowing by telling potentially hostile nations to China (often our own allies) to bugger off for the time being. We don't necessarily have to keep doing that. I hear India and Bangladesh make cheap things too.

Release a few details...see what happens. Release a few more and see what the water cooler conversations talk about. We went with Chechens and now we're seeing a foreign dynamic back in the mix:

The investigators now have a "foreign" angle in the case, says Gazeta.ru:

Law-enforcement agencies have established the foreign contacts of the suspects in the murder of Nemtsov, therefore the theory of the foreign footprint is also being actively developed, a law-enforcement source told Interfax. He noted that according to one theory, the motive for the murder of Nmetsov "could have become the politician's [Nemtsov's] sharp expressions regarding Islam."

Like with just about everything bad that happens in that country, Occam's Razor.

All roads typically lead to the Kremlin.

It's hard to believe anybody actually believes a word they say. The next thing we know, aliens are going to be involved in this assassination.

That would breach the contract that made with Eisenhower.

Did aliens make an agreement with Eisenhower or something?

Yep. Had three different meetings.

They get animals and some humans to experiment on (but humans are supposed to be returned) and the government got some tech from them.

Where do you live, in a box?

:)

Guess he's never heard of the majestic 12

If I told him every theory or assertion made on the subject his head would explode.

Hell the green berets assault on a base that they found out "what was being done" to humans.

Uh oh, GV's about to have an official Ras "pat myself on the back" moment.

I'd be afraid to ask for US or any western nation's help at this point. I'd even be afraid of any defense agreements with any US or western nation at this point.

Exclusive: El-Sisi urges

El-Sisi, speaking mostly through a translator, said that while the U.S. has helped Egypt for decades, Egypt needs that help "more than ever," and wants to see a "big response from capable countries."

He said the suspension of U.S. equipment and arms to his country has sent a "negative indication to the public opinion that the United States is not standing by the Egyptians."

Yea! I called it! Other nations are starting to question whether our political leadership has the balls to back them!

The Kremlin propagandists made another video even before "I'm a Russian Occupant." How did we miss this one?

Per usual, everything is America's fault. More specifically, America created the crisis to divide Europe and Russia and to use that as leverage against China. Therefore, missiles and loud explosions should deter its fascist govt. and evil corporations. Typical warmongering irony on Russia's part.

No one has ever accused the Kremlin and its propagandists' of using logic as its strong suit, but that's pretty special even for them.

And yet, if everything is this easily explained, one still wonders why America hasn't taken Canada yet. If we were to do that, it wouldn't even matter how powerful the EU, Russia, and China were. Oh well. Poor Ockham.
