If the Ukrainian military had not invaded and waged war on Donetsk and Luhansk instead of listening to the will of the people, this outdated crap would be irrelevant..

That is a funny way to spell "Russia illegally annexed Crimea and invaded eastern Ukraine".

That is the other point that needs to be made... the people in Eastern Ukraine want to join Russia. Why is Kiev ignoring the will of the people?

Yep, it's amazing that the will of the people at maiden was observed, but ethnic Russians in E Ukraine were denied this..

When the next Maidan protests start, they won't recognize the will of the people then because it will be protests against the present Kiev govt.

The DNR leader says he has agreed to a plan to withdraw heavy weapons but I won't hold my breath.

Putin set them all free with the novorossya address..

A pity Chechnya didn't get the word.

So we can now add the following to Putin's illustrious barechested career:

1. Tamed Siberian tigers
2. Signed the Montreux article
3. Repelled the Mongols in one day
4. Repealed serfdom in Russia
5. Defeated Hitler singlehandedly
6. Dined in Paris after the Russian counter into Paris in 1814

But they IMPORT 40% of their energy from Russia. Funny that you only focused on exports to Russia, which only tells half the story.

My bad.. I lied. It's not 40%... it's 35.7%.

Sure, gas is important, but it's only one part of the economic basket. And the bigger point was that Germany doesn't export nearly as much to Russia as you suggested.

What did I suggest they exported to Russia? The only thing I remember saying possibly at one point is that Germany has about 3,000 companies that are doing direct business with Russia.

I've been thinking. We should invade Iran soon so that Chinese oil companies can reap all the benefits.

You suggested the sanctions are a real hit to Germany's economy. And why should Germany be "pivoting east" when it's trade is elsewhere?
