Ukraine Protests

Russia is limited to a ground based war, which means it has lost any fight before it has begun.

Even if that is true, how have we done in all of the ground based wars we've been in since Korea?

We're having to go back in Iraq for a 3rd time in 25 years.

I wonder how we would do in a ground based war in the Russian Motherland in the winter? Oh wait, we've just seen how that worked out...

FYP

The whole point they ramrodded the Crimea seizure action was to get the shipyards there. They had base leases but desperately needed the shipyards. Much of their navy is old and was built there. The loss of these shipyards was the greatest blow to the transitioning Soviet to Russian navy. Without these shipyards they've been forced to retool what they could in other bases sinking a lot of money in places they really shouldn't. One reason they went with France is a lack of means of building their own. Amazing how such a "noble" gesture in Crimea turns out to be more about military survival. But only America makes such underhanded aggressive moves like this right?

Right! Good thing Putin said "I don't think so" to US carriers docked at Sevastopol...

So your argument is to stop drinking the US kool aid and switch to the fascist Russian kool aid. Gotcha.

See,, that is where you are mistaken. I'm not even pro-Russian. But just because I come on here and don't baptize myself in the pro-Murica/apple pie and baseball by-God mantra, you all automatically characterize it as such. I'm for freedom and for us getting out of these conflicts and foreign entanglements for the sole purpose of saving the USD and enriching the banking cartel. Sadly, this is how far America has fallen, when you have the Russians and Chinese talking about expanding markets and trade and the US talking expanding war and arms trades.

You do know that Russia has been for several decades the largest arms exporter in the world right???

Yes. What is your point? That the now extinct Soviets armed a country or were you giving an example of a ground based war where the US was humbled in?

I'd think you might want to fact check so you could avoid such terminology in the future...

If that is true, then the US couldn't have been far behind. I'm sure while the Russians were passing out AK-47s and MiGs, the US was handing out small arms, helicopters, planes and whatever else.

You've defended Russia and use their media (state owned government mind you) in all of your stories here. Any proof given to discredit Russia is countered with Russian media links and conspiracy theories. Almost verbatim you repeat what comes from the Kremlin. You cannot believably tell me you are not pro-Russian when your whole argument is no different from Putin's own words.

Expanding arms trade? Have you seen all the stories about weapons deals Russia has? Again, you defend Russia and portray them as peaceful trade partners. Nuclear bombers and subs on everyone's borders. A Pacific conference in Australia met by a Russian navy armada. Weapons deals. Upping their own weapons budget. Talks of rebuilding their nuclear stockpiles. Threats of building Iran's nuclear program. Please. I really hope you don't believe the nonsense you say on here.

Just enjoying the hypocrisy that the Soviets could supply arms to one country involved in a conflict and the United States can't...

That was just Putin making a statement. He isn't going to attack Australia.

What do you mean we've just seen that?

Are you calling Ukraine part of Russia again?

Hands off! It's not yours anymore.

I'm not justifying what the Soviets did. Our discussion is about what the current Russians and US is doing. The Soviet Union is dead.

A statement of peaceful trade of goods? You say the US is the warmongering weapons trader and Russia and China are all about peaceful trade. Now you say some manhood unzipping of pants in front of a group of 20 nations meeting on economic growth is just "making a statement".

Our 500 soldiers in the Baltics? Was making a statement as well. Like the US would invade Russia with 500 soldiers and a few APC's and tanks. I'll remember your terminology for all the "warmongering" you accuse the west of.

What would be a better word for this?
