There was a live stream earlier. Couldn't see the entire crowd, but it didn't seem to be very large. They were being kept by troops from entering the building.

I don't know about "massive" but this doesn't bode well.

Is this MSM spin?!? Russia has no interest in taking over Ukraine. They need a stable Ukraine, which obviously isn't going to happen until Porky is relieved.

Why would Russia need to invade when separatists are winning this civil war??

The separatists are not winning the war. Russian regulars with Russian equipment is winning the war. Without direct Russian intervention after the fall of Sloviansk and Kramatorsk the separatists would have been crushed last spring.

Amazing how a "separatist" offensive was mounted just a couple days after their own leaders had basically tapped the mat. I guess the majority of their forces were just sitting around hiding until the perfect moment to strike back.

The head of the Ukrainian military just admitted they weren't fighting Russian regulars.

Even if they were, why would Russia need to invade? Nobody in Ukraine outside the Maiden neo-nazis wants to fight this war...

Is the head of the Ukrainian Army on the front-lines? I'll believe the men who are actually doing the fighting and dying and they are saying they are fighting Russian regulars. Not to mention there is photographic evidence of Russian markings on the equipment. They don't try and hide it even more.

Did I say he didn't? I'm saying that a general in a cushiony air conditioned office 500 miles or so away from the front-lines in Kyiv won't be plugged into the reality of life on the front. The average Ukrainian soldier who is actually fighting and bleeding for his country is saying they are going up against the Russian Army. Why do you discredit them?

Where did the general say they weren't fighting Ukrainians? Not doubting; just curious. They've been towing that line for months now. Awful odd they would suddenly back off. If I may be permitted to conspiracy theorize as well, could it be because they're hoping US aid may soon come since they're no longer actually fighting Russians but just separatists?

The major flaw in this argument that Russia has desires to take over the world is that if that was really theeir aim, why didnt they choose to simply steamroll the Baltics, Ukraine, Belarus and Kazakhstan years ago?

One a ****ty economic situation during 1990s after the collapse of the Soviet Union and years of allowing the Russian Armed Forces rot away from lack of funding. Two, the Kremlin already controls Belarus and to a lesser extent Kazakhstan and for years Ukraine. You do not to invade countries when you have a puppet in control.
