Nice! :lolabove:
Was it last year when the Cats fans kept throwing the ball out of Commonwealth after extra points? Against UGA?
The tradition started in '04 against Georgia, was renewed this year against Auburn and I think UT, also. The fans were fed up with crappy football, so as a protest, the fans started doing it.
It's one of our funniest traditions. Here's what happens: When we're playing really poorly, and the opponent scores a fieldgoal or extra point, the fans in the end zone stands don't throw it back to the Equipment Manager. Instead, they throw it to the next section over before the Event Staff can tackle them and wrest it away from them. It usually gets about halfway around the stadium before somebody tries to throw it up over the pressbox to the second tier. Then they keep throwing it back until the last person sends it sailing out of the stadium, at which point, the fans cheer like hell.
Against Georgia, Event Staff picked on 2 Georgia fans who passed the ball on by throwing them out, at which point the Kentucky fans started booing. This year, the Event Staff didn't fight it, just let them do it.
The only problem was, that when we arrived at Commonwealth in September for the first home game this year, they had put up endzone nets to deter the new practice. They blocked all the extra points until the Auburn game, when the cables were starting to sag under the weight of the net. About 3-4 balls made it over the net, and the tradition was reborn.
