actually, i thought it was a good idea. big bronze boot on a wood base shaped like the states of TN/GA at their borders...making a "T" obviously....that would be cool.
the battle for the boot. has a nice ring to it.
yeah, it's almost like we can't start any new traditions....it's weird. all traditions had to start somewhere...why not here and now?Obviously I think it's an awesome idea that bring something unique to the game. I bet nobody has made a new tradition like that in a long long time. I think some UT fans don't like it because the phrase "hobnailed boot" is from a moment where UT was beaten.
However, the boot would become OURS when WE step on their faces and break their noses. It symbolizes the toughness, the grit, the fight that this game embraces.
If we had won, and John Ward had said it , Volnation would be all over this idea like duck on a Junebug.yeah, it's almost like we can't start any new traditions....it's weird. all traditions had to start somewhere...why not here and now?
and regardless of where the phrase came from....who cares....to the unbiased viewer/listener, that was a very entertaining call for a game at the time of the game it happened...especially considering the result.
maybe you should call Vince Dooley instead....?
