UGA Defenders......I just don't get it.

I read all the back and forth regarding Ga and championships so I will ask this. Didn’t Ga have a chance to win 2 titles, an SEC and a NC and choked both times? Or was I dreaming and those games didn’t happen?

No, all of that happened despite us sucking more. Us sucking had nothing to do with it, except that if we hadn't sucked so bad, some of that wouldn't have been possible. Sooo....you're welcome Georgia.

If it makes folks feel superior to belittle your own team and support a rival, knock yourselves out. UGA could have 36 MNC and that entire program, it’s fans, and ‘tradition’ would still be a pus filled scab in my eyes.

It’s a fan base and a program that thought a drunk talking about crushing faces with a boot while it’s players made complete @$$es of themselves destroying grass on an opponents field was the height of coolness and toughness.

Garbage program. I’ll never give it an inch.

Smart move, that would probably leave you with just 2

I oppose stupidity wherever it may be found. The post I responded to is mind numbingly stupid and actually insults the Vols. I think we have the exact number of SEC Championships, like 15-20 more wins out of 1300 or so all time games. The same number of national championships since the end of segregation, basically the same number of MNC's recognized/declared and a dead even series record. What service does it do our fandom to lie about these things? The Chaney hire is a great move, I don't care what UGA fans think, good or bad, but jeezus get a grip. Flame away.

Winsipedia - Tennessee Volunteers vs. Georgia Bulldogs football series history

Imagine if UGA had hired Tennessee's OC away from us. I can guarantee you that if you went to one of their boards, you'd read NOTHING but unicorns and sunshine about what a HOME RUN the hire was, and the ABSOLUTE MISERY it had inflicted on Vol fans. Them, 45 agreements with each post in this vein, with insults and snide comments thrown in.

What you would NOT see EVER, is a buttsniffer defending Tennessee, stating that the OC in question wasn;t long for the job, and UGA hadn't really accomplished anything anyway.

Why, then, is their a sizable contingent on these boards who feel the need to make UGAs case for them? Let them come on here, spew that BS themselves, and get engaged and ridiculed........like a fan site is SUPPOSED to work. For pete's sake, why carry the water for another fanbase.

I understand most UGA fans are incapable of debate beyond something infantile like "Georgia: Great Team, or GREATEST TEAM EVER?", but still, let them try for themselves.

In the end, Chaney was going to be their OC this coming season. There was no plan to replace him. Now he is gone. Hence, he LEFT that school for us. The reason(s)? Many, I'm sure, but in the end, UGA lost an OC. Period.

For our UGA lurkers, I offer the following:

View attachment 188401

Chaney has coached at both UGA and UT. I believe he was let go by UT after his tenure there. Chaney has done a good job at UGA at times. But there were many, many times he left us scratching our heads, or worse, as he seemed to really tighten up when a game was on the line. When he was hired at UGA, many on here and other boards laughed and said that UGA would regret the hire. I wouldn't say that UGA regrets the hire. We went to two SECCGs and one NC game with Chaney as OC. But many, many UGA fans are not crying in their beers, as was the case with UT fans, when Chaney was hired elsewhere. Chaney was co-offensive coordinator with Coley. I think Coley will be every bit as good at the helm, if not better.

Congrats on the hire. Might work out this time, might not. Time will tell.

Dang it. I gotta admit that was just a solid football fan post. I suppose there are some decent UGA fans. Unicorn rare, true, but y’all are out there. 😎

And what have I said that was false? Yes, Winispedia has 6 national championships listed for us and 2 for UGA. Winispedia goes by the total the school claims. We claim 3 national championships where we lost our bowl game. Based on the article I posted above, Georgia doesn't claim one for an undefeated, untied season and a bowl victory in 1946. We each have 13 SEC Championships. Football SEC Champions

And just to bring this full circle, my comments began in response to the asinine statement that Georgia "has the trophy case of an expansion team". There are plenty of things to make fun of Georgia about without blatantly lying.

You're very defensive. I didn't say anything you said was false. I just provided a source that directly compares the data.

If any of you are around Georgia fans like me, then you understand. They're unbeatable, top of the world, they own the sec, they only lose if they don't care. I don't have time to post everything I've heard from them over the years, but imagine D4H on crack, and that's 95% of them.

I can't imagine D4H on crack.

When Chaney was here before, offense wasn't the problem. We couldn't stop anyone on defense which meant we had to win shootouts.

During his tenure at UT Chaney produced Os that were #43 Scoring # 60 ttl O, #58 scoring #75 total, #106 scoring #104 total and #22 scoring #18 total O. As UGADawgforlife posted, Chaney is a solid hire for UT but he's never been spectacular. He is however a competent OC that with talent can run the O and allow Pruitt to focus mainly on the D but I don't think any fan base has ever felt devastated when he left or overjoyed when he was hired.

It's funny how we all compare one fan base to another, saying one group does this and another that. Thing is there are lots of UGA fans in/from TN, lots of UT fans in/from GA, lots of UGA fans in/from AL, etc. I've traveled the state of TN for many, many years, from Kingsport/Johnson City to Crossville, to Memphis. During a lot of that time I would listen to sports radio (Dewey The Swamp Rat, Tony Basilio, etc.). I've heard some UT fans talk about NCs in the pre-season when the cupboard was absolutely bare of players, and they wouldn't be ranked. But they would say "we are Tennessee so we should win anyway". I don't think anyone can say with any truthfulness that UGA fans are any more unrealistic than any other fan base, especially Tennessee. In fact, I dare say that, if you took a poll of SEC fans, Tennessee would be ranked as the most unrealistic fan base in the league. I think that's due to the fact that most UT fans have never played football, at any level, and don't understand the nuances of the game.

SWAG= Some Wild Axx Guess

When you take a SWAG and proclaim it "the fact" you know you're not dealing with the brightest bulb in the lamp UGA fan as they come up with jewels like the following:

"I think that's due to the fact that most UT fans have never played football, at any level, and don't understand the nuances of the game."

You were tracking well until the end. Then you went full UGA fan. Never go full UGA fan.

I, for one, am glad you Georgia people play football at such a high level. I’ve seen UT win a national championship with a whole lot of talent from Georgia that chose to compete for UT. I’m 34 and I’ve never seen Georgia win a national championship. Weird.
