UGA calling out our snap count..

es. 9-5-1d

ART. 1 . . . No player shall act in an unsportsmanlike manner once the officials assume authority for the contest. Examples are, but not limited to:

d. Using disconcerting acts or words prior to the snap in an attempt to interfere with offensive signals or movements.

The Referee and Umpire line up on either side of the Mike LB. If he's barking the same cadence as the QB, they'd hear it. Kinda like your wife hearing you yell from the other end of the dinner table. We're kicking a dead horse here. Just because the Vols lost doesn't mean UGA or the refs are cheating. It just means one program is better than the other for now.
1) The referee definitely does not line up beside the MLB. He's about 10-15 yards deep in the offensive backfield.
2) Whenever I've seen a defense yell offensive signals, it's actually been a D-lineman that did it. They've the ones that can usually put their head down and can get away with it.

1) Never said "beside the MLB". They line up 10-12 yds behind the LOS.
2) Do UT linemen "usually put their head down and can get away with it", or they as quiet as church mice?

Let's stop beating this horse. You and I both know why all of this kind of talk is going on.

If they try it against Bama, Bama's QB will immediately turn around and tell the referee what they're doing, plus they probably won't try it against Bama. Kirby knows Bama's players are far more disciplined to handle something like that than UT. JG just had that "deer in the headlight" look every time there was a blitz or things were shaken up

30 minutes earlier.

Removed the tag so I don’t attract the troll again.

Never have a been a fan of the ejection on the first targeting call, but if they are going to do that, then chop blocks, generally being intentional, are definitely ejection worthy.

Or at least have them sit out until the person got chopped is able to come back when they have to limp off the field over it.

See what your saying but targeting gets you an ejection whether the player 'targeted' leaves the field or not.

This is ridiculous--can you imagine what you guys would say if we just beat some team and their fans started this whining about stuff like this--you all would call them crybabies, whiners and everything else.
Face it--they dominated the line of scrimmage and we look silly trying to find idiotic excuses.

Really?

Will the whining ever end?I doubt very seriously they were calling out the count. They were probably just calling their own audibles. With so few fans in the sounds the players, on both side of the ball, they hear so much more ... there is even that much more trash talking because it is so much quieter on the field.

Come on now--you know they could not beat us without cheating. Silly you.

Why do people think this is whining? It’s a legitimate question about what was going on down on the field. It’s strange to have 5 false starts in a game and blown assignments all over the place. Nobody is taking anything away from UGA. They out talented us, out schemed us and outplayed us. It’s one of the best games I’ve ever seen a D-line play.

I was hoping he had gotten over that, but apparently not.......

Anyone who thought playing with longer cleats in the 1996 Citrus didn't help us isn't being objective. It rained like hell down there that year and we played with illegal cleats.

The middle linebacker is the QB of the D. They have the right to call shifts as the offense does. Happens all over football. There's lots of communication going on during every play. Anyone who's played football knows that. If UGA was trying to effect snap count, the Referee or the Umpire, as well as the rest of the officiating crew, were right there to hear it and would have called it. There's always an excuse for losing, most of the time it's just that the other team was better.
Im with u on the excuses we just loss period but what ubsaid about the refs is not true. I played a ton of football and I currently coach travel football in GA so I know a little bit about football. This aint the 90's the umpire doesnt line up next to the backers any more he is a few yards behind them so he cant tell u whats being said in the trenches. If they were mimicking the cadence that's a penalty. U right about pre snap shifts but that's not what got the oline to jump. Idk if u ever been on the field when the dline mimicks the cadence but it most definitely effects the guys on the los thats why its illegal. If u need proof they were doing it just rewatch the game. U will see a play were JG is still setting his pre snap protection & he gets an unexpected snap right to the chest. U can also see Pruitt tell the refs that was the 4th time they did it. If thats not enough look at how fast they came off the ball without getting 1 offsides call. They should have went silent count after the early snap so u cant fualt uga for trying to get an advantage. Ijs the refs aint in the box so they cant tell u whats being said down there.

The clear message from the OP is that they whipped us because of the ability to call signals. We got shipped straight up.

"This aint the 90's the umpire doesnt line up next to the backers any more he is a few yards behind them so he cant tell u whats being said in the trenches." Watch the replay and look at the attached. The Umpire was in Mike's back pocket, 6 yds from the LOS, most of the game. If there was anything going on, he heard it. LOS players are always communicating, it's part of the game and always has been. If they mimic the QB's cadence it could actually screw the D up. They're talking to each other. UGA does it, UT does it, and every CFB team does it. No other program besides TN complains about dirty play from UGA. Just plain sour grapes as other UT fans here have indicated.

He actually specifically said it DIDN'T cost us the game.

Anybody that knew anything knew we were going to struggle to run the ball, but it's insane that we halfway made an effort to establish the run and have actual talent up front, but RBs only had 16 carries for 36 yards.

Nowhere does he say it didn’t cost us the game as your post argues. Look again. He says” did it cost us the game? I’m not saying it did”. (But neither is he saying it didn’t). That’s quite different from your post in which you say “he actually specifically said it DIDN’T cost us the game.

The mike is that backer that is 3 yards off the ball in that pic. That empire is 6 yards back so he cant hear whats going on in the trenches. Mimicking the snap count doesnt screw up the defense stop it. I have coached 12yr olds that did it and the rest of the dline never jumped only the offense. I aint crying or complaining. We played poor in the 2nd half and loss simple as that. Im just stating the obvious. Since u here, yal got a great defense but the rest of the team played dirty all game. Somebody obviously felt threatend by us just look at the tactics they pulled. From the waterbottle to the chop-block. We found out a ton about our team. We not quite there yet but we coming. Yal better hurry up and win a natty bc once we get right its back to 3rd place u go. GBFO🍊🍊🍊

Can someone explain what this is? I played baseball and golf, so I’m not sure what this means or why it’s causing a problem. I understand they’re yelling stuff, but not sure why they’d need a penalty?
Thank you for asking. I didn't know either.

If we are being honest, it will be called in the Bama game whether it is real or not. Did you not notice the calls last year after the game started getting tight? Same thing happened last vs Ole Miss. Like them or hate them, Bama is the cash cow of the SEC. If we can make it close again, we will have to beat Bama and the refs.

For any that doesn’t believe that is true, it IS true that Alabama went an entire season without being called for offensive holding. An entire season, whereas the norm per game is almost 2 per game, per team. Let that sink in. Some of the calls last night were blatant, just like they were last year on us.
Makes me hate Bama even more.

You don’t see it called much at the college level probably due to crowd noise making it hard to pick it out unless you’re right there around the LOS.

I have seen it called in high school because you have dumb kids trying to win. Oddly enough it's not usually called the first time but called nonetheless.
The fake snap call is right with the nose guard that tries to smack the ball away as the center is hiking it. 99.9% dosen't work and usually results in a off sides penalty.

The d-line shift had been around for decades. Oddly enough I have not seen it in a while. In the 90's in think Tb was on eof the firs teams that the d-line would walk around in circles to forces the oline to zone block.

I am not a golfer but played saxophone in hs band. Can someone please explain these golf references in musical terms? (I also play guitar, if that helps).

I played trumpet in high school, navy and beyond. The best I can explain for you would be like a brass player getting hit in the mouth while playing or more to your woodwind side,,, like hitting a "squeak" in the middle of your only solo in the spring concert competition... or getting hit in the back of the head while playing and splitting a reed..

UGA is good enuf to not have to resort to the dirty tactics they often use.. Makes it even more pathetic.
They pay attention to statistics too and play every down hard all the way to the end of the game. Makes sense in a way because Smart can use numbers when recruiting. In other words they look for and create every advantage/disadvantage that can help them appear better.

I bet a large sum of money Saban alerts his pals in Birmingham about this tactic. All of a sudden it will be called on Georgia.
The defense is allowed to yell out it's own signals pre-snap and they can simply say tough-shat if it appears to mimic a snap-count. Best counter is to do it to them too. UT hasn't had enough time this season to get into a good rythym yet because so many players had to go through that quarantine. We're simply rusty and appear uncoordinated. I think Pruitt and staff are fast tracking and should be commended under these circumstances. Take, for example, Shamburger who hasn't played at all this year and left the slot receiver wide-open for a TD pass. Simply because of a lack of practice. We actually had to piecemeal our practices for quite awhile and now we're seeing the results. Should just render this a learning and developmental season.
