Nonsense or revisionist history. Trask was always better than Franks except in 2 vital categories... vocal leadership and confidence. Countless articles and interviews around that time indicating Franks kept getting the nod because of the intangibles he brought to the table... he had the ability to fire up and motivate the troops that Kyle had not yet developed to Mullen's satisfaction. Makes sense because Kyle had never been a starting QB before, even in HS... it was taking him longer to get acclimated. When Franks got injured, Mullen obviously had to accelerate Trask's development and coax him out of his shell. I've been on the Trask Train since the day he caught UF's attention and was offered; everybody knew (or should've known) he was a classic miss by the recruitotainment sites... the proverbial diamond in the rough. In fact, the 2/3* rating everyone sees on his recruiting page is actually an upgrade; he actually was just a 2* kid until UF offered. But I remember the 1st time I read about and saw him throw, and thought, here's this 6'6" 240 lb. kid throwing darts all over the place, and he can't see the field... then I did a little more homework, and learned D'Eriq King was the starter at his dual-threat hs program. He could have transferred to another hs and been their starter Day 1, but he was loyal to his team. We got lucky snaring him. The product we all see today is the natural progression plus tutoring... timid Kyle is gone.
