COLUMBUS, Ohio -- During its five-year run in the American Athletic Conference, UConn has never lost a game to a conference opponent, running up a 101-0 record.

Let that sink in for a second. More than one hundred wins. Zero losses. None. Zilch. Nada.

But as impressive as that sounds, it's likely little consolation to the players and coaches who suffered their second straight heartbreaking loss in the Final Four, falling to Notre Dame in overtime Friday.

Despite having perfect records entering the past two postseasons, the Huskies have never appeared more vulnerable. Down the stretch against the Irish, and last season in similar fashion against Mississippi State, UConn looked uncharacteristically rattled and a little lost despite being the favorite and having more talent and more All-Americans.

How could this be? The 11-time national champions are the most storied program in women's basketball history with one of the best coaches the game has ever seen in Geno Auriemma, and they are no strangers to playing on the biggest stage in the sport's final weekend.

But it seems the lack of competition in the American has finally caught up to the Huskies.

Take a good look in the mirror folks. This may be the future BY after Geno retires. The nasty, rabid, unconscionable and myopic shouting down the majority. The constant and never ending second guessing of the coach. The unreasonable referee baiting and finger pointing. The name calling of the players and each other. I've stayed away from a few from the BY for just this reason and just watched. I at this point am so happy we have a JS, HuskyNan, and Biff. I mean, the team loses 2 games in 3 years and people spontaneously combust. 2 games in OT by last second shots, against terrific teams. Goodness.

They do have good reason to fear. Despite their stellar recruits, UConn will likely be outgunned the next two years in the NC run. Perhaps Crystal Dangerfield won't get a NC after all 👍

That forum has some of the most spoiled rotten fans I've ever seen. It's amazing how quickly they turn on their own players/recruits. Does anyone remember the recruitment of Elena Della Donne? They were slobbering over her until she announced she was leaving school and transferring to Delaware to be closer to her family and they turned downright nasty. They called her names and said she was crazy. Most fan forums can get emotional after a loss but it's a much more visceral reaction on the BY than most places. They take it personally.

Give em a break. They have next to no experience with losing. Don't know how. Unfortunately, we could show them.

We can wish em ill all we want but right now, sadly, we are a gnat on an elephant's arse to them.

Well, they need to learn. Geno is 64 and unless it's Chris Dailey who has never been a head coach, there is no heir apparent. Especially if they can't get out of the AAC and into either the Big Ten or ACC, they are in for a long and hard fall.

And I don’t feel bad for them AT ALL! Now talk about a team going the routes of LaTech and Old Dominion.....it’s a must UCONN gets out of that conference before Geno retires.

I don't see HOW they can get out of the AAC. What Power 5 conference would take them in just for their men's and women's basketball programs? Or, as someone pointed out, their elite field hockey program?

I wonder if Holly's and the LVs current experience is giving long time assistant never head coach Dailey pause at all. Also, does she play good cop to Geno's meanie like Holly supposedly did with Pat? Has not been a successful formula so far here.

LOL wonder how many Boners would say, "Aw leave her alone, be loyal, Geno chose her so whatever happens is A-OK!"
