They are also won by smart quarterback play. The line can only hold defenders back so long and Crompton has to be intelligent enough to either scramble or step up into the pocket. Oh yeah, not throwing the ball to the other team might help too.
It starts at the line, though. If the d-line is dominating your line, it is over. You won't win the game unless you win it with your defense. I am agreeing Crompton is horrible, but there are a lot of problems than just him.
You have got to be kidding me. this was 99% poor qb play by none other than the mustached one. This loss squarely falls on the OL. It is pathetic this year and last and before that. Crompton surely is suspect but give the kid a break. He had absolutely NO time. The routes the receivers were running were bad. This walk on center has a long way to go and Josh McClendon simply ain't got it.
The offensive line especially mcclendon is SOFT S-O-F-T......get off of crompton, blame it on OL
The offensive line didn't throw 4 INT's and bounce passes even when he had time to throw. Offensive line had to run block most of the game because we had no passing game. And they did a decent job of that because it's hard when UCLA run blitzes and stacks the box. 8-9 people blitzing and playing the run against probably 7 blockers...doesn't usually equal good things, but they still managed to crank out decent yard on MOST, not all, plays. If the passing game had connected then the field would have been "stretched" and spread the defense out more instead of them being able to focus on stopping the run
You must had been in the bathroom whenever UCLA ran right through our line. The blocking was horrible. It seemed like every single play I noticed one of our linemen almost put on their back because they were getting driven off the line. You can't have a passing game or running game when the line is inept. I get what your saying about Crompton and I agree. Crompton doesn't deal well wit adversity. If the line would have given him some confidence than maybe he wouldn't have felt like he was about to be sacked all the time and throw errant passes.
