Tyson Helton's Questionable Decisions

Because he has sex with hookers? Dude, if you only knew what goes on in the real world.

I GUARANTEE you wouldn't give a damn if Freeze was lighting up UGA. FL, or Bama.
I was really hoping Urban got fired. I told all my Vol friends we'd be needing him in a couple more years

Helton is looking like the weakest link so far. We have the weapons on offense to be decent even with a bad run blocking OL. I feel that Pruitt wont be loyal to a fault and its waay early. See how it shakes out but the obvious narrative is Helton has a big ? over his head right now.

Outside of the toss-sweep, what else can we do offensively? Where are Jennings and Byrd?

The self righteousness of many a TN fan is part of the issue around here. Bama, barner, tosu, Clemson, et al have not gotten to the top of the mtn sprinkling pixy dust and riding rainbows. Neither did ole Johnny and Phil back in our day. Naivety is in abundance here and across this great country of ours. Why Machiavellian principles are still leadership 101, people have always been and still are, especially in the information age, too dumb to get out of their own way.

And seriously would be nice if our coaches put their full trust in the clear QB1
JG is the #1 QB. Pruitt keeps saying they're going to play KC because "we're going to need him".

This game was in hand. The D smothered UTEP all day long. It was a good time to get KC some "live" plays without having to worry about the outcome.

Yep. With a weak OL, JG may not survive the stretch with UGA, Auburn, and Bama front 7s. KC needs meaningful snaps.

Nothing new all three games have seen some questionable play calls. Maybe he is saving the good stuff for Florida.

Seriously, what is this weak decision-making by Helton? Aren't we paying him like an elite coordinator? I think the horrible play calling speaks for itself, but I am baffled that we had the first chance to run a two-minute drill this year and gain some valuable experience and he takes Guarantano out on 2nd down, puts Chryst in and gives up on the drive. I am so confused and do not understand that logic.

Guarantano and the 1st team offense need as much practice together as possible for SEC play. Chryst should not see the field in this game until it is 35-0.

What worries me about the Florida game is losing 10 to 9 or something like that. Another team that has trouble being consistent and thus kills drives with a bad play or a turnover. JG has solidified number one today now will he be able to get us on the board enough next week to beat Florida?

Pass protection looked better and particularly in the 2nd half. I really think 58 is the lynch pin problem. Others are hot on 51 after a really bad game but I think the interior has been the problem all year. Carvin and R Johnson to me looked much, much better today. Jahmir Johnson didn't. Niehaus to me looked better.

Why is it that every year, it doesn't matter who the coach or assistant coach is, there is an expert that comes on and questions someone job performance out the gate?

In general I agree with you but Helton hasn't done a good job. I understand their desire to give the oline reps and practice to run the smashmouth offense they want to run but it'd help confidence of the entire unit if he'd take advantage of our strengths more and put points on the board. We pass block ok (better than run blocking), have good WR's, and JG has thrown the ball well. Helton will earn his pay against UF

Helton would not be the one to make that decision. Pruitt makes that call. I'm not sure why they did that either... but you can't blame it on Helton. I can't figure them running the ball either. The dropped pass finished the drive but with that much time... why not put a drive together?

They're committed to playing Chryst. You can read into that whatever you like... but they're going to play him.

Nobody can ever say they didn’t give Chryst a fair shot
