Tyson Helton's Questionable Decisions

The one thing I will say that really isn't a criticism but a different approach that has worked... why not choose one? When Cut came back in 06, he looked the situation over and determined that from where they were UT's O couldn't be "balanced". So he made them a passing O concentrating on "dink and dunk". Chaney did something similar with a very young OL in '10 and '11.

Could they specialize in pass protection then add run blocking as they go along?

Aithough the short, fast routes seem to be something this offense does well we can't afford to be anywhere close to one dimensional in this league. We may see more passing on 1st down entering conference play. It is way too early to judge Helton especially with the players he has. We aren't good at LOS and it's going to be telling but we just might be good enough to squeak by UF on offense but can our defense rise to the occasion? I think both teams are bad TBH and hopefully UT improves week to week and stays healthy. I hope we get all our commits and add a couple more good ones.

Because he has sex with hookers? Dude, if you only knew what goes on in the real world.

I GUARANTEE you wouldn't give a damn if Freeze was lighting up UGA. FL, or Bama.
I would and there is a price to pay in the “real world” for being a known sex trafficker or criminal. Parents and schools do not want their kids being coached by people with these kind of character flaws.

It isn't Helton's fault our offensive lineman couldn't block an elderly, handicapped woman. I mean they can't even block against terrible defensive fronts much less good ones. That has a real tendency to limit your play calling abilities.
Elderly handicapped women are offended at your comparison.

Lol... sex trafficker... he called an escort. Go root for the local christian college football team if you want a bunch of people that put on a fake facade to satisfy your unrealistic expectations of being perfect in this world.

Few things on this. The defense was solid and UTEP although a bad team runs the ball well normally. Take away our turnovers and the roughing penalty they would have been below 100 yards total D.

The offense was way out of synch. I think the focus was lost on them this week and there was no rhythm. I think it is fixable for Florida, but worrisome as I haven't really seen much rhythm beyond the running game.

1) Drew Richmond is just not playing well. Do we have a suitable replacement at rt? If so, its time. He caused 35 yards of penalties and there was little to no push on the right side.
2) Play calling was bad overall. We had 2 mins left in the second half. Wouldn't that be a good time for Guarantano to work on a 2 min drill? Instead we put Chryst in and then hand it off and run the clock? How about play action on first and second downs? no screens to the RBs? I think the quick hitch to the WRs was open the entire day, how about doing that until they stop it?

Anyway, I think the D is coming along, the OL and the play calling on offense have to get fixed or I don't see any wins in the SEC.

Ignorance is bliss... I admire your child like view of the world.

They could do what Cut did with the 07 offense. Dink and dunk while fans complain... is hard to defend even with very little at WR like that team had. It doesn't require the OL to hold blocks forever. It doesn't even require the QB to make really difficult reads. It opens up tackle to tackle runs.... and you still have the option of faking the short throws and pushing the ball down field when a team gets aggressive.

But it requires you to become a pass first O. I'm not sure Pruitt is going to accept that even in the short term.

I posted something similar last night.

I think that's way we'll have to go if we want to win....Effectively throw it until we can run it.

Morals really bother you, huh?

JG is awful at faking handoffs. I noticed that yesterday. There was a ton

Again, unless i'm remembering wrong. KC came in when JG lost his shoe

I have high morals. My career is in an industry that is frought with immorality and I go above and beyond to distance myself from that and it has served me well. I also understand the reality of the world that surrounds me. Having sex with someone is definitely not the worst thing a man/woman can do in the world. It's an irrelevant argument because we will not hire Freeze anyways. But if I was faced with the option of having freeze and an elite offense that helps win games vs not having freeze and losing games... I choose winning games. Urban is scum, nobody cares when tosu is in the playoffs. Sec football is a business for everyone. These kids are counting on their coaches to help them get 7 and 8 figure paydays that will change their and their families lives forever. I bet they'd choose the coach they felt gave them the best shot at the big payday if you asked them too.

Well, there are definitely no perfect people out there. That's for sure. And, I think people deserve second chances once they make mistakes because, well let's be serious, we've all made mistakes. I just think, given how high profile college coaching jobs are and how influential coaches can be, it's important to consider all factors before hiring a coach. IMO, there needs to be some moral standard.

That's a fair argument. Freeze will eventually get a job somewhere. Will west said we tried to hire Freeze but sec office wouldn't let it happen. Who knows if true.

Time is an effective cleanser. He'll be back at it before long.
