Oh it doesn't bother me; it just seems funny that he didn't pick up on that during the half hour he spent cramming on Ray Mears and Tony White and the rest of the Tennessee references he dropped.
When you're nervous, angry, anxious or drunk you're native accent takes over. Ever hear people swear in the first language even though they've been speaking perfect English since they were a kid? It's natural for when you're emotional that you pull up that first language even if you learn 2 or more languages very young. Accents come out strong under the same circumstances.
Southern isn't my native accent but when I am mad or drunk it comes out really thick.
