Tyndall much better than White

People will convince themselves whoever UT gets stuck with was the best guy anyway. That's just what it's all come to....

I don't do the hiring. That is well beyond my pay grade. I'm a fan, I do the cheering for whoever is leading my favorite university's teams. I'll support any coach who wants to be here until he proves he can't do the job at a high level.

"Sources" claimed yesterday they had talked. So that has changed now?

Smokescreen?

:p

Uhm what source? There were initial discussions when job first came open, hadn't talked in last 4 days, focus was on White. So you're saying a deal with Tyndall was signed 4 days ago, and the white pursuit was a smokescreen?

Interesting

Jeff Goodman and Gary Parrish have both reported tonight that UT reached out to Tyndall. Not sure what you're getting at.

That could mean some 3rd party reached out to see if he's still interested, or to get some info about the NCAA issues he had. Doesn't necessarily mean it's Hart that reached out, and that he's the top target.

tyndall's team had a nice season last year--though some of the competition was strange (St. Catherine's college, william carey, etc.). White's team gave Southern Miss. one of its worst defeats.

RE Summitt: She should have retired years before she did--the game had passed her by.

RE buyouts: Coaches have been jerking around schools for years by fleeing for other jobs after a couple of years. If there is a trend to make it more difficult to leave via stiffer buyouts, I applaud it.

Who the crap do you think you are to make that judgement about the best coach that the University of Tennessee has ever had, male or female? You really piss me off saying that about a lady that has given most of her adult life to UT. That's bush league!

I mentioned yesterday Hart could have very well felt Tyndall would take the job in their early meeting/discussion. He then focused on White knowing he had a plan B. News that White was a no go was hrs ago. Could a deal with Tyndall been signed since then? Maybe. I am speaking in Maybe's, much like 99% of the speculation that is being said.

So in your opinion it's possible Tyndall signed a deal to be the Tennessee coach Wednesday/Thursday....then Hart flies to Florida to meet with White and for the past 72 hours does everything he can to try and convince White to accept the job?

Package deal?

Where in the world did you get that from my post? I never said a thing about Hart and Tyndall signing anything in the 1st meeting/discussion. I said Hart felt Tyndall would take the job at that point. THEN Hart met with White. White is a no go, and MAYBE Hart has been back in contact with Tyndall today and COULD have something now in writing.

Yes.

After White was a no go. That was HRS ago.

I said nothing about a signed deal WED/THURS with Tyndall.

I read your bolded as a response to my bolded, see now that you were saying a deal could've been made today after white said no officially.

Resumes don't lie my friend. Compare them...you decide.

Actually, resumes lie all the time. A coach's future success is much less predictable than people think, regardless of what they have accomplished before.

Is that factual or just gleaned from the various reports? We treat these searches like a reality TV show expecting to have access to every single detail. What does either side have to gain by putting the facts out?

It's very close to the truth if not exactly the truth.

I don't live in TN. I have seen his name thrown around this website, but have never seen/read/heard anything he has put out there. From what some on here say, I should be highly offended by you thinking I was one of his disciples. Shame on you!

Travis is a self- serving dork. My apologies for lumping you with his fans. WE are Vols, right? GBO.:hi:

If White chose to not take the UT job because of issues with the buyout then to me that says he knowingly is going into that job to use it as a stepping stone or he has no faith in his abilities to produce results. We may not be a top tier basketball program but we can do without that line of thinking.

I agree as soon as I heard White had second thoughts because of the CCM petition, I was hoping he wouldn't come. I want a coach that is confident in his abilities and thinks he is going to be the best coach in UT history.

this is a great hire... have watched him win season after season, ex players from morehead always said he would be at a major program with 10 years.

Happened pretty quick after White did not work out. MAYBE Hart had his plan B in place just in case. Now let's see the new guy get to work. Looking forward to more excitement and energy from everyone in the basketball program.

Good Job Dave. :good!:
