Tyndall looking to bring some players?

As many before me have said the buyout Tennessee wanted was 1 mil for Martin and he and his agent wanted a bigger buyout. In other words if he didn't win next season it would be easy for Tennessee to fire him and buy him out. So he oped to take the Cal job.

Well, there you go. I mean, if where I am doesn't like me for some strange reason and the people I deal with every day don't trust me...then what would any human expect from that? Can you imagine the stress that would come from a job where you know you are not wanted? Especially where you've been relatively successful? And yet you are supposed to be upbeat, hand out, etc. Really? I'm out of there on the first thing combustible. Does Tyndall know what he's walked in to?

I talked to Martin a couple times. This was not the case.

There is nothing wrong with people being different. Did Martin embarrass the University at any point and time? I don't give a flipping damn whether he gave you a firm handshake and a whiff of his breath as he got danger close talking with you. You aren't telling me anything Gramps.

So why was he recruiting him to USM?

Not sure. Maybe he felt he had to take more risks at USM than he does at UT?

If you listened to the press conference today, and then google Ellis's name, you will see a distinct contrast in the profile Tyndall gave for the type of players he would recruit and the type of behavior exhibited by Ellis over recent memory. Like I said though, maybe he has turned his life around.

And maybe he feels he has to take risks to improve the post position at Tennessee.

My point simply is he's the same coach, if that's his stance at UT that likely was his stance at USM, doubt he had a philosophical change overnight.

Ellis got into a fight at a night club as a 18 year old kid, it's not as though he held up a gas station or something. If Tyndall was recruiting him to USM I'm guessing he feels confident in his evaluation of him.

Tyndall said on Hyams show that he intends to help the USM AD by encouraging all the USM signees to honor their commitments to USM. He said they had their eye on 3 or four guys that they would reach out to.

That is something my dad taught me many years ago and it is very true. A man that will not look you in the eyes has problems and cannot be trusted.

To be fair, CCM didn't like the spotlight or the press. That is what he was trying to escape. He met his players face to face and people face to face (eye to eye) in situations where the press was less present/in your face than press conferences and the situation more real.

yes it does , if a man cannot look you in the eyes he has something to hide or maybe not being truthful about
I have never trusted anyone that would not look who they are talking to in the eyes. Check out Martin's pressers and interviews. He looks down when talking , most of the time.

Let's see if Tyndall looks who he is answering in the eyes. Take it from an old man, that says a lot about someone.

Any of them play the 4 or 5?

Ellis 4/5
Pollard 3/4 Kinda like AJ Davis. Way more Athletic though.

Pollard will have until May 21 to sign a binding letter of intent with a Division-I school, though he could ultimately wait and enroll at a school without a letter of intent. The former Mr. Basketball certainly has the talent to be successful at a high level of college basketball, but his junior college coach believes he needs to work on his perimeter skills in order to have better success than he did at Alabama.

"Ball-handling is going to be his key if he's going to play high-major basketball," he said. "He can't be 6-8, 200 pounds and play inside. He has to have a perimeter, mid-ranged kind of game. To be a factor at that level, his game has to continue to improve from a perimeter aspect. But he's a first-class athlete…they don't come much more athletic than Devonta Pollard."

Martin idk

You're going to go with THAT as a retort? Weak sauce my friend. If he could have won 9 games you wouldn't have cared about angering a bunch of HS coaches in one of the worst Football States in the USA. VolNation showing it's colors again, IMHO.

Wins and Losses are Temporary, CHARACTER IS FOREVER

The real Dooley would ignore kids and their fathers picking up season tickets. Would not even say hello. He was an arrogant prick like Saben without the wins.

Martin has really worked on his ball handing and shooting and it showed this past season. Good athlete too.

Pollard is a freak athletically, and has unlimited, albeit untapped, potential.

Ellis is a very good athlete but I haven't seen him play in a while. He is a long lean kid.
