Tyler bray S.E.C player of the week

Kentucky was 5-6 that year and won two conference games: Vanderbilt (of course) and a 4-7 Alabama team. Alabama wasn't very good back then (the good ole days).

Kentucky allowed 33 points and 392 yards per game.
a better answer to his question would be that as terrible as we think Kentucky is these days they were 10 times worse in the 90's. The mere act of putting Kentucky and Defense in the same sentence during football season would get you laughed out of a room. This myriad head coaches UK had during that period would have traded straight up for our current defense over what they had and threw in their starting running back for good measure.

Younger fans have no real idea just how bad UK and Vandy used to be and A lot of older fans are so complacent they have no idea how much better both teams have become over the years. The SEC as a whole has improved immensely over the past Decade. As in the gap between the SEC and everyone else is bigger but the gap between the team in the SEC is smaller.

We still have the same number of teams at the top each year 2 or 3 are clearly the tops and another 2 or 3 in that second set. For 3 decades UT lived in that second set and snuck into that top 3 from time to time. Now if we let patients take over the asylum we might not ever get back.

Firing Fulmer was stupid. Not because he deserved his job but because of WHY he got fired. Moron fans thought he was not producing enough even though no one had ever produced like him before and we could do better. That worked out great.

Now Dooley, who was put in an almost impossible situation, is on the verge of turning it around and those same morons and their now almost grown kids are setting mattresses on fire again.

He broke an impressive record no matter who you're playing against. Congrats T-Bray.

He acts like a child, only shows up at a small percentage of our games or just throws ints, he has one good day against Troy and now he's a star QB all of a sudden? No, sorry! He's got way more to prove in my book.

If everyone is saying, "oh, its just troy" Blah, then why hasn't anyone else put up as many yards on them?

Oh and why has only like, what, one other SEC QB EVER throw for more yards??

Please people, give credit where credit it due.. I know for a fact none of you could even complete a pass against Troy's defense.

Sam Rebel... im with you on this. Why would they give offensive MVP awards to a person playing a SunBelt Team? The UT homers on these message boards will take what they can get, which explains why we have Dooley as a coach...no offense.

Wow, SEC Player of the Week for barely beating Troy. Truely sad that we've stooped to being excited about news like this. How many SEC games this year has he choked in? Fumbles, interceptions, the kids jinxed when it comes to real competition.

To be fair, Bray broke Manning's single game passing record, and that record happen to be set against Kentucky. To say Bray's game didn't matter bc of the opponent is to say Manning's doesn't count either...unless you think Kentucky is a legitimate SEC defense

To be fair Manning was never allowed to line up in the shotgun for sixty minutes against Troy. Bray had a great game and the team needed every yard. He did what he had to do and I think he is a really good qb.

The one exception to the rule. Hornung won the Heisman as a lifetime achievement award. What has Bray achieved during his time at Tennessee?

Lifetime achievement...how many ncaa records does Charles Woodson have?

How many conference records?

How many michigan records?

Look I'm not promoting Tyler for the heisman...but it doesnt always go to the most succesfull nor the best.

It goes to whoever wins the popular vote.

Breaking records is irrelevant if you do so by lighting up Troy. If he was putting up the same yards and TDs, with a slight dropoff in the TOs, not only would he be in the conversation, but his team would have at least 2 fewer losses.

The best players don't simply put up gaudy stats. They lead their teams to big time wins. Bray could own every single record of note by the time his career is over, but if he does it while losing to every decent opponent, he will never be considered one of the best.

He got the record because he had to keep throwing to win. Most other SEC qbs would have only played 3 quarters.

Change that to games with the biggest audiences. Once agian it's a popularity contest.

Funny how you bammers never even cared about this stupid award till recently....one of the few, very few, things we agreed with ya on.

Some of these "fans" legitimately seem to hate our quarterback. Wow.

I dont hate him, but i dont think he as good as people on here seem think. Hes a front runner and has never led a comeback vs a team thats worth two red cents. He has awesome weapons and is an average QB and when he goes to the pros he will never crack a starting line-up outside of injury.

Just check out his stats vs the rubbish teams and SEC teams. He is a 70 percent passer agasint sunbelt types of teams and 50% vs SEC teams, He is a terrible leader, has bady body lanuguage ( like cam newton) and is press confernece bomb..

As much as you problably think hes great because he leads the SEC in passing there is a lot more to playing QB than stats.

Are you seriously equating throwing for a billion yards against Troy to putting up a billion yards against Bama, Florida, LSU, etc? Do you really think the difference is only the size of the viewing audience?
