VolQuest's Austin Price joined 104.5 The Zone's Ramon and Will on Tuesday for his weekly appearance and he shared some insight on the situation with Bey.

"He reached out to Tennessee on Signing Day and wanted back in (with the Vols)," said Price. "Tennessee was expecting him to go to Ohio State to start the day. Obviously, they would love to have him, so they take him. He's on the phone when he signs the scholarship papers. Josh Heupel comes in there and meets the media. Shortly after that, I text [Bey] and he says he'll do the interview. He calls me. We're on the phone. I mean, it doesn't sound like he's being held hostage.

"He's a kid -- it's okay [that he's all over the map]," add Price. "And I think that's where Tennessee's at with it. Again, some of the embellishment -- like that he's being held hostage -- let's just call it what it is, [the embellishment from] the Ohio State media is a bit much. But I would also tell you that Ohio State was totally on the phone with him after he signed with Tennessee (which isn't allowed)...So, it is what it is. Let the kid go do his thing. If it's at Ohio State, it's at Ohio State. If it's somewhere else, it's somewhere else. Let the kid be happy."

So we have confirmation from someone who covers the team say that it was actually him (Bey) who called UT wanting back in. He agreed to do a post commitment interview, but now I’m supposed to believe that he’s being held hostage by his family and that his mom drove over 12 hours to get paper work to forge?

OSU should get fined and get recruiting sanctions for blatantly tampering with the kid. Thats not even the worst part either. They lied to him. That’s the whole reason he flipped. If they had told him hartline was leaving earlier, this all could have been avoided. Pulled the bait and switch on him. Nasty work.

He signed, so he’s ours until we let him go. He can’t go anywhere for another month unless we let him.

I do think we’ll probably let him go because he seems crazy.
No. Leverage is what used to exist when there was no transfer portal. A one-month wait months before the start of spring practice does not create any real leverage.

It’s still probably true to an extent, which is why AP doesn’t expect him to be here next year. He probably called UT wanting back in so he could make peace with his mom. Now he’s having regrets about giving in to his moms wishes.

The forged signature stuff was BS. Do they even sign when they’re under 18 or just the legal guardian?

Going to say it now. This kids production will be near zero and will be at multiple schools before his career is over. I’ve said it a thousand times, early does drama in recruiting translate to a successful career.
I wanted this to not be on the kid so badly, but the more that comes out, the more it looks like he is to blame. All the rest of the stuff seems to be OSU fan fiction that has fanned the flames of discord amongst the national media who will print anything for clicks. Tennessee is gonna release him because they don't want the headache nor anymore bad press over it, but it looks like all they're guilty of is welcoming home the prodigal son who then spit in their eye a second time.

Austin Price said something in the recent Tim Banks impromptu video that led me to believe that the portal would not be an option for Bey (or any freshman), though it wasnt directly in reference to Bey.

Price said that players cannot enter the portal until they are enrolled and they have attended class, and Tennessee doesn't begin class for the spring semester until late January after the portal closes. I'm not saying AP is right and even he didn't sound 100% confident (I believe he said, "as I understand the rule...").

That doesn't mean Tennessee can't/won't outright release him from his LOI, which would make the portal unnecessary, but the portal, in AP's opinion and understanding, won't be an option.
Correct, he wouldn't be able to just simply portal out in January. We will let him go if he really doesn't want to be here tho. We have time to continue to build the relationship. He was committed to us the longest, we may win out at the end.

They should get fined and recruiting sanctions. OSU is used toilet paper and used toilet paper gets flushed. OSU should be flushed 12/31. OSU is dirtier than the dirtiest Bama & FL regimes.

I would think Heupel, and pope even, are spending little effort here. You’re not going to delay other moves or let it hang out there too long. It’s been a week. Not sure what more there is to be said. Moving on whether he’s in or out.
I would think the focus is on retention and portal. 2026 recruiting is done.

I am completely confused. So Bey reached out to US on signing day to flip back to us but he is upset because his mom made him….oh never mind. I have no clue what’s going on
Sounds to me he signed and then OSU tampered and started to make him feel buyers remorse. Sounds like they lied to him and then manipulated him.

Such a shame that such a vital and often times exciting part of the game has effectively been destroyed. I can remember being on the edge of my seat when teams were punting to Majors. Now, it's just an opportunity for a bad snap or shanked punt. As for kickoffs...why bother. Just set the ball at the 25 for every possession after a score. Spare us the kick and sprint. Hate what they've done to this game.... absolutely hate it.

Yep. At this point, I think it's clear the kid has some thinking to do and some family issues to resolve. Heupel is doing the right thing by letting this thing simmer. Release him now and it's chumming the waters which the kid clearly can't deal with. Just let things cool without all the pressure of being available again. Think, talk and pray about things. Be sure of what you want and where you want to be before you make another "decision".

Can anybody with supported documentation define what and when the kid can do IF…..

We DON’t sign a release.

We DO sign a release.

My wild guess is if we do HE can sign with school of choice NSD, not before and if we don’t HE can portal out first window after he enrolls here. Can’t get out till you get in.

SHE can’t sign up for anywhere else in the meantime.

If even close, it means there is no value to urgency and waiting to see the results of the family dynamics is a reasonable path.

ANYBODY got hard facts.
