Two Keys to Beating WVA

When Tennessee wins over West Virginia Dana Holgorsen had better put his home up for sale. Dana Holgorsen is on a blazing hot seat as it is and another 7-5 record will get him canned.

Nah, Tony Gibson will be the sacrificial lamb if their defense doesn't improve in 2018. In 2015 their defense ranked 28th, and 2016 37th, compared to last year's 96th S&P+, it will be on him if that doesn't trend downward. Holgorsen will manage another year since he got a 5-year extension in 2016; they'll buy him out after 2019 season.

Luckily the UT secondary was one of the best in the nation last year. Unfortunately that means they will just run the ball against one of the worst rush defenses in the nation last year..

Passing defense stats were good only because nobody needed to throw against that pittiful run defense.

Agreed about Chandler carrying 20 per game. There's no reason why he cannot or should not. There's some kind of whisper campaign underway trying to undercut Chandler and his abilities, one of the recognized top ten RBs in college football this season. Let that sink in haters, you want a recognized talent to sit so some unproven gets MORE carries???? Were some of you one of Butch's OCs?

The 2 keys I see to winning the game,or most games anyway, is the offense converting 3rd downs and the defense getting 3rd down stops. That hasent been happening lately but if they can do those things they have a good shot at winning. I know, pretty obvious stuff but it is true.

QB pressure...much blitzing from either side...wouldn't doubt seeing either/or both, Jeremy Banks and Madre London...heavy...WV in for a rude awakening...o_O

GO VOLS!

He ripped our hearts out in 2015 i believe was the year. We had them beat only to see Mr.Testosterone himself go ham on us in the 4th quarter.

Yep, I'm sure he's been thinking this entire summer of trying to do the same thing again. Assuming we will pressure, this is going to be a scramble game for him -- he will find a way to release the ball -- we're going to need some picks and force short throws and keep their D on the field.

I agree, the defense is gonna have to protect against the deep ball. If we can do that then I think we can rattle Grier. He’s a good qb, but he thrives off of big plays.
