Two Deep Depth Chart Released

Top 5??

Top 10 yes.
I know That we will have a really talented 2019 class. That trend should continue.

We will win the East this year.
So...Butch will be even more entrenched into Tennessee football.

I don't disagree a great deal with your points stated above. I just they will become moot.

Lets hope Butch figures it out cause if he does, he's sitting on a gold mine. Tennessee might not be a top 5 job at this moment but it will be very soon. 2019 is not an aberration. Its the new normal.

Tennessee is now in the same class as Louisana when it comes to instate talent. The only states currently producing more talent than us is Florida, Georgia, Texas, and California. We have no natural instate rival for big-time Tennessee recruits. We are as close to Metro Atlanta as any other SEC program outside of Georgia. We also border North Carolina that produces a decent amount of talent every year.

If you look at all the jobs in college football based on favorable recruiting landscape, we are among the very best right now. Tennessee is getting to the point where we can full half of our class with instate kids and be halfway to a top 5-10 class. Add in the fact we'll always get guys from Georgia and North Carolina, then it isn't hard to see how enticing of a job this is. Add to it the fact we have some of the best facilities in the country, the fact we are overflowing with money, and the fact we have such a rabid fan base.

IMO Tennessee is a top 5 job in college football moving forward.

Tennessee ranked 6th last year in players signing d1 scholarships, not too bad.

And it's only getting better. Right now we are in Tier 2 when it comes to instate talent.

Tier 1: Florida, Georgia, Texas, and California

Tier 2: Tennessee and Louisiana

Everyone else is far behind.

We are ridiculously close to being able to build a national title contender with just instate kids. Ridiculously close.

You better get ready for an 8 win season.

If that's the case then you should join me in calling for a new head coach.

8 wins with the sort of talent Tennessee has right now and has the potentially of recruiting in the future given how much instate talent is improving is UNACCEPTABLE. Period.

Bates Listed as the #2 MLB.

Good for him, maybe he's getting back to where he was as a true freshman before he caught the Josh Smith injury bug contagion.

I disagree if you're talking about skill to play LB. I think he would make a great outside LB. But if you mean he would be lost because of not knowing the playbook or experience there, I see that.

Correct, way too much to ask since he has no experience at that position.

Glad to see CFA on the two-deep. Hoping he'll get enough meaningful carries in the first couple games to show us what he can do. Not ready to give up on him after a couple bad plays last season. Honestly, he shouldn't have had to play last season except in mop-up duty (thanks a lot, Hurd!). If it turns out CFA really doesn't have the stuff, so be it...there are three talented freshmen behind him ready to step in. I hope he gets his chance, though. GBO!!!

Alabama and Clemson are our "In-State" Rivals. And both schools have superior coaching.

Now...I'm of the group of people that believe it's about Jimmys and Joes over Xs and Os.
Recruiting Impact players is what matters.
The type of impact players that are emerging from Mid-State TN and Metro Atlanta will obviously favors us. But it does so for Bama, UGA, Clemson and Auburn as well.

Bama and Clemson hold on to their In State impact players... and it shows. And they're getting their fair share of Tennessee's impact prospects.

That WR group really is a mixed bag.
There's talent there, but I realky just don't know what to expect.

Jennings will Jennings.
Byrd can do everything...

Palmer is the most intriguing...
Just don't know how to feel about the group as a whole.

I love the depth of the OL. And the talent.
RB is solid.
QB is a ???

DL has great talent. Average depth.
LBs.... Don't know. Bates needs to turn a corner. We need him to really turn a corner. I personally would run 4-3 with
OLB Reid
MLB Bituli
SLB Smith

Not having Kirkland changes the whole personality of the defense..

DBs looks promising. Need Wiggins healthy soon tho...

Eight regular season wins and a top 10 recruiting class will, and should, get Butch another year. The 8 wins last year was actually a very good job considering that we had the most starts lost due to injury (52) of any team in the country, and that was compounded by the fact that most of those occurred during the second half of the season, which is when the real slide began. We were often playing with 3rd and 4th team players and players out of their normal position.
This is expected to be something of a rebuilding year since we only have a couple of experienced skill players returning. Even so, I think we have a real chance to win 1 or 2 from FL, GA or LSU and get 9, maybe 10 wins, but if not, 8 will still get him another year. There simply are very few coaches who can be counted on a guaranteed successes (such as Saban) out there, and I definitely don't want a repeat of the Dooley era. Having said that, I think they should expect 9 or better from the team in 2018.

Just because Clemson paid off Tee Higgins doesn't all of a sudden give them Tennessee players. At the end of the day most kids want to stay close to home and represent their home state. They just want that school to be attractive. To give them a chance to win championships and make it to the league.

If Butch Jones can't win championships then he's not meant to be the head coach at Tennessee.

Some of us already know he won't win a championship here.

He was a once in a generation WR.

And they signed some other TN guys too.

But...the improving talent pool is obvious in the state of TN.

Saban is the best coach, and ALWAYS has the best talent. Yet he doesn't win the National Title everyear. He wins it Often!...

My point is, every season is it's own and Tennessee is improving every season he's been here.

But we will always need to recruit from around the region. Not just TN

Does anyone really see this roster as a championship roster? I am sorry but i am not seeing it. I see yet another porous defense coming up.

Breaking news from D4H! The Vols are so talented, UT administration has decided to leave the SEC and join the AFC. Sources project the team's 15 future hall of famers will catapult the Vols into the superbowl and end New England's dominance.

I kid. But, c'mon man.

LOL. Dude goes bit shat crazy over anything player related. I bet his keyboard is all gooed up tonight.

LOL. Statements like this are gonna look so stupid in a few weeks. Our roster is more talented than every championship roster going back to the 2001 Hurricanes.

Just wait and see. We have almost too much talent. Especially on defense. If we're not top 5-10 nationally on defense this year I'll be shocked (and yes that assumes Colton Jumper being our starting MLB).

This is flat out insane.

Well its gonna look genius in about 4 months when we're holding up the national championship trophy. I really like the talent on this team. You're talking about a lot of future NFL starters.

I believe the following players will start in the NFL:

QB Quinten Dormady
QB Jarrett Guarantano
RB John Kelly
WR Josh Palmer
WR Latrell Williams
TE Ethan Wolf
OL Marcus Tatum
OL Trey Smith

DE Jonathan Kongbo
DE Darrell Taylor
DE Kyle Phillips
DT Kendal Vickers
DT Kahlil McKenzie
DT Shy Tuttle
LB Darrin Kirkland Jr.
LB Daniel Bituli
LB Austin Smith
CB Justin Martin
CB/S Rashaan Gaulden
S Nigel Warrior
S Micah Abernathy

KR Evan Berry
P Trevor Daniel

Not too many teams have 21 future NFL starters on their team. And this doesn't include Evan Berry and Trevor Daniel that are surefire starters on special teams.

Ton of NFL talent on this team. You almost have to try to lose as coach with roster.

You're just dropping a bunch of names with potential. There are plenty of players like Ethan Wolf on that list that won't sniff a starting job in the NFL.
