And you think that Dooley can out-coach Chip Kelly??? If you say yes, you are a complete moron!!!
Uhhhh, he didn't say that at all.
I also believe that a stable Dooley led team would be more successful than Strong with a new offense and or defense.
^ That. I'd rather have Dooley take a stable program and our already instilled and practiced systems into Autzen and lose like that rather than go in there with a new staff and look totally lost because we're still learning exactly what the hell is going on. I never said Kelly was getting out coached by anyone, I just don't believe a brand new staff with brand new ways of doing things sounds like a very safe bet when going up against someone like the ducks.
Those numbers clearly need to be swapped. The DC doesn't deserve 800, in fact he should be gone.
I really think you need to check the number of games he's coordinated. You'd have to be mentally unstable to fire a new defensive coordinator 6 games into installing a completely new system.
I'll tell you one thing. Keeping a 7-5 or 6-6 Dooley will hurt recruiting. We have one stud WR (6'4" WR, Paul Harris) and are leading for another big name 6'4" WR (M. North). We also lead for 6'5" standout JUCO WR, Rumph. You have Croom who is 6'5"...now you put ALL that size (including JH and CP) on the field against a smallish group of DB's, and it's Oregon who should be scared.I wouldn't. Just because he can win in the Big East (the weakest of the BCS conferences) doesn't mean he can waltz an SEC team into Eugene with two games under his belt and hang with one of the nation's top teams. Winning that Oregon game next year is going to be a very, very tall task regardless of coach. I'm not so sure a new guy is going to have the kind of instant success everyone wants. If Tennessee does go that route after this year and the new guy wins right off the bat, that's great. I would love to be proven wrong. However, it would take a miracle for anyone to go into Autzen in their third game as HC at Tennessee and compete for more than a half.

Problem is with the coaching staff. Kiffin nearly beat a good UF team, in the Swamp...spanked a good UGA team and the Cocks. All with less overall talent on D. Didn't have the size or depth on the DL that we currently have. A good coach would have us undefeated going into this matchup with Bamer, and this same team...that looks like mush nationally, would be ranked in the Top 5.
One good coach makes all the difference in the world. Just ask Louisville's players...or Texas A&M's. We got the firepower to go toe to toe with Oregon. Just need the coach to lead it. Gruden, Strong, or Patterson can get it done.

It doesn't matter who coaches Tennessee next year. We will not win at Oregon or in the swamp with Dooley or a new coach. If we fire Dooley, the new guy will be starting 1-2 and will lose atleast 2 or 3 more that year. A change will not improve the record, it will mix things up and make the climb back longer. I would like to see Dooley as coach for atleast 2 more years so there can finally be some stability. We will still be playing Kiffin recruits next season. Dooley hasn't been able to prove he can win in the SEC but he has shown he can build a team and it will be much easier for the next coach to inherit a roster full of 1 coaches players as opposed to 3 coaches.
saw a Tweet that said former players from 02-08 badmouthing CDD and staff were responsible as a whole for CPF being fired. Seems to be a true statement if you think about it..
Im off the fence, I think we are so close right now. Resetting would not be good. Give CDD at least another year to stock the shelves and get this thing right. Im all VOL so whatever happens I will be rooting for Vols no matter what.

I don't think a person would be unstable at all to question why our NFL talent can't tackle, line up right, or make plays in ANY defensive set. When they are in the 4-3, they still screw up all over the field. It's not just the 3-4. It's the coaching of the defense as a whole.
Why did our NFL talent in the offense and line especially stink at running the ball? Experience.
We've got some decent guys on the D. If they had 3 years experience under Sal in the 3-4 right now we'd be a mighty tough team.

Good Post, I hate the idea of us losing out on Sumlin. I remember everyone saying he was a 1 trick pony with Keenan as his QB. His offense would never work in the SEC and he would be a bust. So much for that huh? Of course Sumlin would have never came here for 2 million like he did at A&M. Hamilton would have had to came up a little and so as it is, we get Dools. :banghead2:

Yeaaa that won't help hang on to recruits at alllll...Just imagine a Gruden led team, going into Outzen next year. It would be game of the week and we would have a good chance of winning it!
Except, of course, for the fact that GRUDEN IS (FORNICATING) GARBAGE!!! I pray every single day to the FSM that that walking talking face making pile of elephant excrement stats as far away from the University of Tennessee as humanly possible. I'd rather dig Bear (fornicating) Bryant's ROTTEN CORPSE up and put him on the sidelines than Jon (cursed by a deity) Gruden. Why can't you so-called "Grudenites" see the (male bovine excrement) that was the product under your beloved "offensive genius"?? Oh, that's right, the glow from his SERPER BERHL RIIIIIIING has you completely blinded. I will go on campaigning against Gru-bage for as long as it takes, and if Dave Hart somehow has a brain seizure and actually hires this jackass, I WILL be the one that starts the Fire Gruden thread within an hour of the announcement.
I know there's many of you that think CDD isn't the answer.....but please, I beg of you, believe me when I say that Derek Dooley is FAR AND AWAY the lesser of two evils.
