Tuesday Practice Thread: UTEP week

Well it sure won't hurt the O line play any worse than it has been so what does it matter? It can only help and frankly, I'm glad Fulmer has taken the initiative.

We have been cursed with clueless AD's that don't have any knowledge of play on the field or enough care of our football program to help rebuild UT to be the powerhouse it once was. Now we finally have one with the knowledge and experience leading the way. Not only on paper or in an office but actually rolling up his sleeves to at least try the only way he knows how with hands on coaching of the one position he excelled at and that happens to be our position of the most need.

I have 0 problems or worries with this and if Pruitt is the man and the coach we hope he is, he invites any help he can get from his boss.

I don't like the idea of PF out on the practice field every day. I REALLY don't like him coaching the line or even appearing to do so Eventually it will cause friction with CJP.
I like it, but I don't.....But I bet the coaches don't like it. Even though I'm sure he had JPs permission. This could be bad

i really doubt it was Pruitt's or Friend's choice to bring in PF.
Really? Exactly how would you know? Give us the inside information that would lead you to believe that. Or are you simply assuming it because you are close enough to Coach Pruitt and Coach Friend to know what their attitudes towards Coach Fulmer are?

Nobody's claiming that Fulmer is trying to take over as head coach, so the snarky remarks are just that. The concern is, when Fulmer was hired for the AD position and hired a first time head coach, that Fulmer might try and run things, thus creating friction between himself and the new coach. Now, if he was asked to help out, fine. If he marched into CJP's office and said, as his boss, 'you need help with the line', then big problem. I mean, the guy we thought would need two years minimum to turn things around has had two lousy games.

Don’t know specifics about coaching. Is it possible Pruitt/Friend Teach a different technique than Fulmer teaches. Maybe just some tips on leverage or something simple. Wouldn’t be anything major or that would just add more confusion.

CJP is a HC but his heart and focus is on the D side of the ball. He sees the issues with the OL like the rest of us and knows this season goes the way the OL and DL go. CJP is working on fixing the DL as seen by the move to a 4 man front, apparently the Kongbo OLB experiment isn't working as well as planned. CJP knows we need more pressure on QB's and he's working (like heck?) to get it fixed. CPF's work with the OL is in a similar pursuit. OL has to get more of a push to get our running game in high gear. I think the only thing going on here is how do we get better at the two most important position groups on the team and win more football games. I like the all hands on deck attitude and I think both CJP and CPF are more than ready to set aside any egos or personal differences to beat the (expletive deleted) Gators! GBO

I for one am good with the wind and rain. My thinking is 3-4 hours of exposure to uncomfortable elements will toughen the linemen.
