Tuesday practice 8.16.16

KB, Evan is better than anyone on our team at creating yards with his feet. Kamara then Sutton then Dobbs imo.

Hes a first down or a td waiting to happen. So even if he touches the ball just a few times, the defense has to account for.

And he played Qb in high school. So him throwing it or possibly throwing it would not be an issue.

Tebow was a great dt Qb. but do you think it was silly to use Harvin as a ball carrier?

LSU used Trindon Holiday in a similar fashion.

I don't know Little. He's immensely talented, no doubt. But better than Kamara and Dobbs? Those two are outstanding and if Evan really is better, why in the world didn't he stick at RB when they gave him a decent look there a couple years ago?

We agree that he's outstanding, but do we for sure know that his skill returning kicks really does translate to taking a snap and being equally outstanding in the backfield?

Not saying that Butch and DeBord (and Bajakian) have been infallible with their decision-making....that's clearly not the case. But I'm prone to trusting their judgment on this one. Could certainly be wrong.

I don't! Very much like you don't know that Evan is our most dangerous runner. Or Evan is an automatic first down. He's a GREAT kick returner. We KNOW that!! For the rest of it I'll trust the people that see him for hours in practice each day and who have experimented with putting him in the backfield and quickly decided that wasn't for the best.

😁😁😁.

Ok man.

You make a good point.

Evan has what's called great "ACCELERATION". That's what sets him apart from the rest either on the team or in the country. He's not what you call really fast. He accelerates quickly to get to top speed pretty fast.

I'm just happy we have the talent we have all over the place. It's a great issue to have and been a long time coming. Good times are ahead.

Jennings was a qb in hs who has moved to wr. Was thinking wildcat, but that's just silly to pull Dobbs to run something like that.

Makes more sense than Berry. Run a bunch of counters and jet sweeps, that will set up an easy throw to Wolf or Croom.

Evan Berry is a better athlete than Eric Berry.

Evan is the Best KR we have ever had...

Coaches don't always get it right. They're human.

1. They're close in athleticism to me but I'd give the nod to Eric Berry here

2. No doubt Evan is probably one of the best KR's we've ever had but I don't know about the best. I'd have to have some time to think about that.

3. You're exactly right there.

Yeah posters don't always get it right. You're out of your mind. Eric Berry could've been an All American at 3 different positions, easy.

#78 drinking water ... can that be Mosley? He is said to be (was?) 340 and I thought he showed a gut last year?

Hahahaha. Evan's not really fast? Dumb post is dumb.

Willie Gault was a pretty good KR and one of the fastest athletes in the country at the time.

He ran a 10.57 in the 100m at the GHSA state championships. He is pretty fast.

I'm late to the party but here were some of my observations from today's practice.

-It was at 2 pm and it was pretty dang hot, but the team didn't seem bothered by it at all which is a good sign.

-Looked like there were only 2 green jerseys today (Maybin and A. Smith). However, some players were not participating but I'm not allowed to name them.

-I pretty much filmed and focused on the QBs and WRs (check out Rocky Top Insider | Vol Nation's Digital Destination). They were looking pretty sharp today. Byrd had at least two drops, with one just being slightly overthrown. He's still giving a ton of effort and it was good seeing that he got his stripe removed. He's earned it.

-Guarantano was making just jaw dropping passes. So much velocity and I would say that Dormady probably has the best accuracy of the group, but Guarantano probably has the most arm strength which is odd because Dormady's arms are pretty massive. JG still needs to add some more muscle mass but it's still impressive nonetheless.

-Preston and Malone are still just practicing at a high level. Now granted, all we've seen is routes vs air but they're going up and grabbing balls that seem out of reach. Actually could hear Preston grunting very loudly on his cuts which is awesome to see. Say what you want about CZA, but he's got them practicing with high intensity and their footwork and routes are looking sharp. I don't think it'll be long before Callaway gets his stripe removed either.

-Darrell Taylor ran straight at me as we were leaving the field and I about needed some Pampers. To think he's probably a 3rd string defensive line just shows how talented and quick these guys are. He was running full speed and it was very frightening, at least to me haha. I really do believe after seeing the D-line in camp, that we have to be one of the best, if not the #1 defensive line in the country. Just so much size, talent, quickness, and depth at that position.

-Trevor Daniel was consistently kicking 50+ yd punts. Medley was booming out of the endzone every single time on kickoffs.

-Wes Rucker's laptop charger wasn't working so he was going into full panic mode (well almost).

I didn't say Evan Berry wasn't fast. Obviously he is to take KR's to the house like he does. But, it's more in his again "acceleration" that makes him so dynamic & unstoppable as a KR man.

Overall speed, Evan is probably around the ~3rd fastest on the team. I'm talking about the 40 yard dash times if they ran them right now.

I'm well aware of Willie Olympic Athlete Gault... still, hes no Evan Berry at KR.

C'mon man!!

I understand being passionate and I understand feeling like you have to be "loyal" to a point you are trying to make........but c'mon man.

Also, you have used the phrase "automatic" first down. NOTHING is automatic in SEC football.

It's none of that
Evan Berry is just the best KR we've ever had imo.
