Tubberville Fires OC Tony Franklin

Problem had to be that Franklin was just a scheme guru and not a football coach. Many fit that mold. The NBA is full of assistants that fit this description to a T.
Dick Harter, John Bach, and Brendan Malone thank you for the shout out.

fire fulmer and we get to lose clawson too

i seriously think regardless of the buyout and contract fulmer is done unless we beat either georgia or alabama

i don't see us doing either except by a fluke (or would that be considered a curse)

I don't see any significant differences between their defense and ours. I think they've both played admirably with the amount of time they are spending on the field.

This is obviously a CYA move by Tubbs. At least in my humble opinion.

Absoulutely...

CTF took an outmanned Troy team to wins over Nebraska (when they were good), and most recently OK. St. last year (mind you with DI-AA talent). He knows the spread and if that is our course bring him in to work with Clawson and our superior athletes. I think these two guys working together could bring something really exciting to the field.

Didn't Borges also go from a freakin' genius to a moron overnight under Tubby's watch?

I don’t know about the Auburn situation but firing Clawson does nothing to address the numerous issues we have seen:
* Defensive penalties to extend opponents drives
* Soft coverage late in the UCLA game
* Interceptions
* Fumbles
* Offensive penalties to kill our drives
* Blocked punts
* Punt returned for a touchdown
* Kick off retuned into our territory

I think this sets a precedent. However, Fulmer firing Clawson would just be searching for a scapegoat. I figured Chavis would be that scapegoat. Who knows, maybe both will be.

Don't forget this one:
* Keeping a four or five time drunk on the team

Exactly!...CTT and CPF can't keep their hands micromanaging hands out of the offense and let these guys do what they know how to do. Case in point...Randy Sanders seems to be thriving at UK with less talent. CDC is the only coach CPF would fully trust.

Borges went from being a genius to a moron when he suddenly didn't have 3 NFL first rounders in the backfield.

smart move on Tubby's part imo. They should have flat wore Vandy out by running the ball. Reminds me of a team in East TN.

Seems maybe tubberville might be trying to deflect some heat off of himself. A little desperation move maybe?

While that may be true, is Borges responsible for recruiting his own rbs and even if he did wouldn't the head coach get the credit?

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure Borges had nothing to do with the recruitment of Cadillac Williams, Ronnie Brown, or Jason Campbell.

Guess who recruited those studs. Does anyone have Al's phone number??
If he recruited Jason Campbell, which I don't think he did, does he get credit for the fact Campbell was garbage the first 3 years of his career?

CAB worked all of them for months and personal visits from CTT sealed the deals.

It's amazing how that happens...

I seem to have heard of another coach whose inadequacies have become more and more evident as his talent advantage has consistently dwindled over the past 5-7 years
