Try to be humble

Be humble indeed. Not like referring to certain opponents on our schedule as “cupcakes”. We all know what kind of season that we had last year and we haven’t earned any world-beater title so far in 2018. My opinion is to play every game prior to putting a W on the schedule. ETSU may not be Appy State, but neither are we Penn State ( thank God).

When the vols score touchdowns against ETSU (there will be many) I just hope they don't go dancing, prancing, chest bumping and holding up the number one. It's not the national championship---just be humble and act like you have been there before.

i hope they get a penalty flag thrown. Party in the end zone, like it's 1999 (for Millenials that means boogie down), who know's maybe it'll inspire ETSU to beat Presbyterian College this year.

Hey, let's all mock a guy for advocating common decency. He never said they shouldn't celebrate.

I'd say its up to the fans to show some class. The coaches will guide the players.

I don’t think anyone is trying to mock the guy, but what is the point in even starting this thread in the first place? It really has nothing to do with anything and it bogs down the board.

Why? I need to see our players have some kind of emotion. Even Bama players celebrate TDS against cupcakes. You’re supposed to

yeah I agree - when I see MLB players on bad teams like the Marlins or Orioles celebrating a walk off win like they just won the WS - then there is nothing wrong with celebrating scoring against cupcakes after a bad game last Saturday

The team hasn't had much to celebrate for the past couple of years. If celebrating makes them feel good and builds self confidence, so be it. I do however agree that it would be nice that beating a team like this would be more humbling and be nothing more than a scrimmage, let's face it, it's not! Based on past history, I wouldn't bet on where I spend my eternity on a win. GBO!

How do you define "many"? This team is made up of many of the players that couldn't score more than 2 on UMass...

I think the team needs to have some cel rating as it creates team meshing and pride. But yes they need to minimize the chest thumping and bumping until they play as a team and beat a big team.

Ohhh man, when I read your post, I thought you were ETSUMule talking about ETSU!

Yeah, let's be humble -- but I got burned last week, so this week I'm not predicting anything about all these td's or anything (just gonna wait and watch)

understand what you're saying OP but these poor UT boys just don't get to score too much, so I'll forgive them if they get a little over-zealous...you know, being youngsters and all...

GO VOLS!

I think any kid is going to be happy when they score a TD no matter who they are playing.

I can understand celebrating just don't get too carried away.

Tasteful celebrations should be allowed. Players have worked hard and took a beating last week. Let them have some fun.
