Let's move on Bro. Let's go Joey Vol!! Dude's going to ball out! I'm thinking maybe a Heisman trip to NYC.
We only have one year with Joey. So if we are gonna go with him with fan adulation? Yall best get busy. Of course, he needs to ball out like he is the next Peyton. And hopefully he doesn't end up being the next Guarantano or ever worse? The next Nico.

He’s brainwashed by his father & only sees tomorrow.

Troy Aikman, last fall, said if he’d had it all to do over, he’d gone to Tennessee. Majors recruited him. Here’s a guy in the HOF, 3 SB rings, a huge job on Tv but he sees what Peyton Manning has, celebrity status at a football school & he misses it. UCLA games are lame with a 40k crowd & FB is nothing special there.

I’m afraid a lot of these guys are making decisions solely based on the $ today. Thomas, a Tennessee kid, leaving for Miami was a quick buck decision.

I never really understood why Aikman went to Oklahoma in the first place. Even worse, doing so as a pocket passer at the height of Barry Switzer's wishbone days.

I can kind of understand his UCLA decision in a way after what he went through with the Sooners. Wasn't Ken Donahoe the HC there at the time? At least he kinda kept it in the family there

Terry Donahue. Ken Donahue was the DC for the 1985 Sugar Vols

UCLA, IMO, was better program back then and had more of a following then.

He would have had a lifetime of connections with coast to coast alumni. THE biggest perk he would have had in Life, he let his dad throw away. Doesn’t matter if he is successful for a couple years in football, still has 40 years of work after that.

Do you agree with Rusty?

I know that I am. Matter of fact, it wouldn't bother me at ALL if we never mentioned his name here again.

I think about a guy like Squirrel White. Bolts to FSU his senior year. Does our fanbase still embrace him? I dont know. He was here 3 years and had time to make contacts, but has he burned bridges for leaving us for another program?

I’ll respect him for playing hurt last year but he made the money decision. Let him be a Seminole for life.

Squirrel recognized his role in the WR pecking order. He had his opportunity as a top option in 2023, but it scaled back in 24. He was behind Brazzell and Mike Matthews was going to jump him or likely transfer. So I think most are fine with Squirrel moving on. We've had many players leave for more opportunity/playing time. It's different when you are a starter and leave for an NIL dispute.

Squirrels "step back" last season-and really the latter part of 2023 was largely due to injuries.

Guy just could not stay healthy which sucks as he is so electric. When you fall flat on your face trying to catch the ball every time, kind of puts a damper on things though.

Now, in terms of VFL I am torn. Yes he left for more guaranteed playing time and money, which is understandable. But in the end he left. There is no caveat to qualify for VFL status so no-I don't think he makes the cut.

Now I do believe the opposite is true-a player can transfer in and earn his VFL stripes. Hooker, Bru, Milton, etc-proud to call all those guys VFLs. T

That 100% depends on how his UCLA career turns out.
That won't mater at all. He's cast forever as a self-centered POS unless he becomes a top NFL QB, but even that may not salvage his reputation. Hope he starts somewhere in the NFL and his team plays the Titans. It will be a sellout with 70,000 pi$$ed-off fans loudly booing him. I would pay the price of a ticket to see that!

Unfortunately this is the way 90% of teenagers think - they can’t see past next week and will take the money and run. Especially when they have parents who haven’t taught them the importance of long-term thinking.

You mean with Tennessee fans, or people in general?

If he goes to UCLA, plays well, and gets drafted, the only people who remember he left Tennessee are Tennessee fans. If it doesn't work out at UCLA, he'll probably have a 30 for 30 made about the whole situation, or at least feature prominently in a documentary about the Portal Era.

We need a special term to recognize the players who start and finish at UT like ZZ and Mashack recently in basketball.

Those are going to be unicorns in the years to come.

I didn't know that about Aikman.

Yeah, it was a pretty interesting interview. He said that he was planning to go to Okla St because of the offense and he wanted to stay in Oklahoma, but that Tennessee was the best football situation for him and he should've done that. He went on his recruiting trip to OU, got swept up in it, and decided that if QB didn't work out, he could switch to safety! LOL

The best thing we fans can do is turn up our support for the players who choose us and remain with us.

We should become the most encouraging fanbase, and not make that fatal slide into an entitled fanbase.

They choose green, and remain for additional green.

I will literally only pull for the name on the front of the shirt nowadays, and I hate that. I really do. But that’s where I’m at.
