There wasn't a "the reason". If you seriously took a look around here you might be able to spot the sort of person that might post a FB meme or propaganda. But that is unfair to a good portion of people that voted for Trump.

It is undeniable that in Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Virginia that people that voted for Obama 2x switched their vote to the GOP (Trump).

Almost any of these states flipping red ensured a victory; all of them flipping ensured a large victory. Trump won because Obama voters flipped. GOP voters didn't switch to become Hillary supporters.

Ultimately, there's really no way to know how much it did.

How do you measure how many votes a TV ad changes? But campaigns spend plenty on them.

A nonprofit group partially funded by billionaire activist George Soros paid firms tied to Fusion GPS and dossier author Christopher Steele more than $3.8 million in 2017 to provide research and analysis to “government entities,” according to IRS filings.

The payments made by The Democracy Integrity Project are more than three times what the DNC and the Clinton campaign paid Fusion GPS and Steele during the 2016 presidential campaign to investigate Donald Trump’s possible ties to Russia.

Perkins Coie, the law firm that represented the DNC and Clinton campaign, paid $1 million to Fusion GPS in 2016 to investigate Trump. Fusion GPS in turn paid Steele, a former MI6 officer, nearly $170,000 for a project that resulted in the infamous Steele dossier.

Daniel J. Jones, a former staffer to California Democrat Sen. Dianne Feinstein, founded TDIP on Jan. 31, 2017, seemingly to resume Democrats’ investigation of Trump’s possible links to Russia.

Jones operated what he called a “shadow media organization helping the government” to investigate Russian meddling in the 2016 election. He also told the FBI in March 2017 that he received funding from a group of between seven and 10 wealthy donors and that he planned to provide information to federal investigators, the press and lawmakers.

About a possible investigation into the start of the collusion investigation, Comey says, “Investigate what? Investigate that investigations were conducted? What would be the crime you’d be investigating? So it’s a terrible cycle to start.”

Interesting reasoning from a guy that started an investigation based on made up evidence with no clear crime.

No way to completely know = yes.

Logic though dictates that if 1) the Russian ads were a tiny fraction of the total ads (a tiny, tiny fraction), 2) the majority of those ads were seen by people in the GOP, 3) the majority of those ads were shared by GOP voters then it's exceedingly unlikely that the Russian ads had an effect on the election.
