House Democrats gear up for showdown over Mueller report in key committee

While committee investigations could cause significant heartburn for Trump, lawmakers know they are somewhat limited in what they can do because they don't have the ability to conduct a criminal investigation as Mueller does. So they say access to his final report will be significant.

It's unclear what the special counsel's final report will look like. Barr has said he wants to be as transparent as possible under Justice Department regulations, but those regulations require only that a report explain the decisions to pursue or to decline prosecutions. Democrats have said they want much more information than that — and are prepared to fight to get it. Nadler has said repeatedly that he would subpoena Mueller for a report or require him to appear.

To that end, top Democrats in the House and Senate have been discussing ways to bolster their legal teams in anticipation of that battle. As part of their strategy, several Senate Democrats who met with Barr told him that if he didn't make a comprehensive report on Mueller's probe available to Congress, their House colleagues would consider subpoenaing Mueller's investigators, a person familiar with the matter said. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity in order to discuss private conversations.

Mueller Team: "After two exhaustive years of investigations, we found no evidence of direct collusion with the President and Russians to tip the election in his favor."

House Democrats: "Well, we'll continue looking because you didn't look hard enough!"

Well since you ignored what I said he tipped CNN off of the raid. And ofcourse he had the FBI pick him up. He is the one investigating right?

I certainly will. That in no way means that there is not something that Mueller was not charged to investigate that the SDNY or the House investigations or any of the other ongoing investigations might find.
In that one in a thousand chance that nothing criminal is found on Trump, then we will just be left with having an habitual liar and despicable amoral human as the worst POTUS in history.

Was there a limited scope of the Mueller investigation? I don’t think so given the many directions he moved in.

So you don't think it should be ok for the anti-Trump to call the most anti-Trump network to make sure they are there for the raid or losers of an election to go after their political enemies simply because they are soft,weak and can't handle losing?

He had a fairly wide scope. He may have referred a couple of things to other jurisdictions for reasons I don't fully understand. The house may look at a couple of angles Mueller felt were beyond his charge.
Who knows? I think Trump's guilty of something that I would view as impeachable and certainly hope that somebody finds and proves it. If not....que sera sera.

I'm good. There are witnesses that haven't testified. Seems pretty cut and dried that it is an incomplete investigation and premature conclusion.

How did CNN being there for the raid impact anything? Much ado about nothing.
