Trump's Harvey response

Also, I do want to point out I'm very proud of CWV this morning for not using five dollar words to describe specific actions thus far today.

I am not aware of anything Trump has said so far that I would call wildly inappropriate. His comment about not congratulating each other yet was a little awkward, and could have been phrased a bit better. But, that's only because it made it seem like that's the goal, i.e. to congratulate each other. That is not how it really came across, though. I think he was saying there's a long way to go, let's not worry about that now. So I give him a pass for that particular remark and know of no others that were inappropriate.

Having said that, its Trump, and unless some major conversion has taken place and his body and mind are occupied by someone far more mature than we've seen before, he's going to turn a perfectly reasonable performance yesterday into dog crap here in the not too distant future.

The only thing Bush did was be tone deaf in Katrina. He couldn't order how to run the superdome any more than Trump can tell the Grammercy Elementary school serving as a shelter where to put the cots.

Some day someone is going to hack your address.

It is constant praise for the response from the government. It's the difference between his constant praise of the government with little or no empathy for the victims he has displayed and how former presidents have handled disasters.

After the 2016 Louisiana flooding, Obama praised everyone involved at a governmental level by name and even had some personal remarks about several and then he launched into an empathetic speech about the resiliency of the victims. He talked about individual businesses and people that he had met. He assured them that the entire country stood with them.

Trump has not demonstrated any empathy for the victims. Sometimes, in disaster situations, people need that.

That being said, I am just addressing your comments. I do not think that this is an event that should be used against Trump. By all accounts, it has been well handled.

Disagree - Trump has specifically demonstrated empathy with victims by talking about what it means to be a Texan and how Texan's respond to this type situation.

You said Obama talked about resiliency of the victims well Trump has too in talking about the Texan ethic and how they will bounce back (sounds like resiliency to me).

So this commentary (CNN pushing hard) that he's shown no empathy is just not correct. He's low on the sympathy end but not everyone desires sympathy; particularly Texans. As for empathy though, he has displayed it in acknowledging the Texan spirit.

He's short on the empathy. Maybe "any" was loose language. His speech had a very self congratulatory tone to it. BTW, this doesn't come from CNN. I have been pretty busy this week and have not read the news on Trump. After reading this thread, I watched the speech.

Again, this is a nit picky thing and it hasn't changed my overall impression of how this event was handled by his administration which is positive.

Kill two birds with one stone.

I really don't understand why people don't see this sleeze ball for what he is, a thief. He takes money and talks about Jesus, but he's a just a common thief.

My dear friend, God has told me that if you would sow a 5000.00 seed that that new car will be yours. If seed comes within the hour, boom, a new house to go with that house.

Trump praises crowd size while touring Hurricane Harvey damage:

"Thank you everybody. What a crowd, what a turnout," Trump said to several hundred people surrounding a fire station in Corpus Christi - many of whom had been displaced due to flooding, according to a White House pool report.

The guy just can't help himself. He could literally walk into an evacuation shelter and then later boast of what a great crowd had turned out to see him.

Hate is very strong with this guy. Satan has filled him full.

totally insane, before and after on I-10 west of Beaumont

about the shoes--it was impossible not to notice. Her shoes symbolize the Trumps: That's rather the point. It's the shoes and Trump seeming to be really pleased at what an epic disaster this is because it gives him an opportunity to bull$**** about what a "tremendous," "great," "unprecedented" job the government is doing in response despite the fact that the government hasn't done anything yet. He is basically using it as another PR opportunity rather than a chance to shut the f--k up and try to empathize, genuinely, with people who are suffering. But that is quite beyond this fool.

Armhair - I wanted to see if I consult with you on a fashion dilemma. I will be volunteering in a very poor area of town next week and am wondering what you would suggest for attire.

I don't want to come off as unsympathetic or uncaring should I choose the wrong shoes or pants. I'm really starting to freak out. Need your advice.

Thanks in advance.
