TrumpPutingate III: the beginning of the end

what? you except him to talk to the cops the same as he talks to his boss? lol

His boss was the President and the cops were the feds, unless he is an idiot (he's not), he wouldn't give contradictory statements to the two. volinbham's whole argument here, is that he did just that.

I repeat - you don't know what Flynn told the FBI. You are assuming he denied talking with Kislyak.

I can almost guarantee the charge was about some details IN the call rather than whether or not the call happened.

I wouldn't even bother offering a defense if it weren't for the the fact that the agents who interrogated him did not consider his comments as lying.

According to prosecutors, Flynn lied to FBI officials about his contacts with then-Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak during the presidential transition. As part of his guilty plea, Flynn has been cooperating with Mueller’s team.

The special counsel and attorneys for Flynn are asking for two more months before scheduling his sentencing, requesting to file another status report by Aug. 24.

Theories on why they're waiting?

This is in no way a cogent defense of Flynn who knew damn well on January 24th, 2017 when speaking to the FBI that he had a phone call on December 28th, 2016 with the Russian Ambassador Kislyak. He lied to the FBI about it (and pleaded guilty to a felony for it) and he lied to Mike Pence about it (and was fired as National Security Adviser for it). Flynn is now a disgraced, convicted felon and deservedly so.

You're a disgrace. Flynn is a hero.

This is a global investigation people.

Special counsel Robert Mueller's team is interested in a British businessman and his pro-Brexit associates' contacts with Russian diplomats and Trump campaign operatives, The Washington Post reported, citing two people who were asked by Mueller about one of those associates.

That associate, Nigel Farage, was the leader of the UK Independence Party, or UKIP, and was one of the most prominent figures in the Brexit debate. The two people told the Post that Mueller's investigators have asked them about Farage's relationship to Trump associates during interviews as part of the ongoing probe into Russian meddling during the 2016 presidential election.

Mueller interested in Brexit boosters' ties to Trump and Russia: Report

Former Trump campaign adviser George Papadopoulos will be sentenced on Sept. 7, according to the U.S. District Court for D.C. calendar.

His wife, Simona Mangiante Papadopoulos, has recently made public pleas to President Trump to pardon her husband, saying he was “dedicated and committed” to the campaign.

Pardon him.

You're a disgrace. Flynn is a hero.

He was a hero. Past tense. Whether through greed, resentment of Obama, political ideology or a combination of the above ... he changed. And he began to act not in the best interest of his country; but in the best interest of himself. He now has a felony to show for it and a reputation beyond repair.

LOL! She is dreaming. Trump is not going to expend political capital on a pi$$ ant like Papadopoulos who was very quick to cooperate with Mueller.

They are waiting on a sentencing because he might have testimony to give against others. My opinion of course.

Hog will be here any moment to say because he didn't lie.

Yeah, reading theories on this elsewhere. Seth Abramson speculating that he may have more info than Mueller originally thought, given how the investigation has unfolded (UAE and Saudi links, Erik Prince, etc).

Just saying what Comey testified to. But since Comey is a liar who knows?

He was framed. It should be obvious to anyone who has paid attention.

In other words, Flynn is still cooperating and providing Mueller's team with useful information. That will be a mitigating factor in his sentence.

One theory I've also seen floated is that it's much more politically difficult for Trump to issue a pardon pre-sentencing than post-sentencing. Much more "obstructiony" if you pardon pre-sentencing because he could still be cooperating.
