A competent manager needs an understanding of the organization they are running, they don't need to know the nuts and bolts. You think the head of the SS puts together or even approves security plans for every event?
In this instance, "YES". This is two vital. Are you alright with appointing Generals to lead our army with 0 military experience? How about FBI Director, want 0 law enforcement?
And its Raskin who has called for her to resign. He says she has lost the confidence of the Congress, and that seems certainly possible. But that is not the same thing as the insinuation so many seem sot want to make that this was purposeful.
Most flag grade officers are much better politicians than they ever were soldiers, sailors, marines or airmen.
Yeah, I wouldn't have a problem with the head of the FBI being from outside of the FBI. Actually it would probably be a good thing.
Key is not necessarily outside the FBI but outside law enforcement entirely.
This isn't manufacturing/corporate America. These are defense-related positions. People with 0 background in fire arms, rules of engagement, tactics, etc. are NOT good fits.
That being said, Cheatle had 27 years of US SS experience so I would say that she should be qualified on paper.
There is a sense of decorum that should be observed in Congress, imo, and cursing is just bad form and classless. But that's me. I'm old.
I can agree with you that she got a little over the top with the Director and she was called out by the committee on that. You should have led with that post instead of what you led with.
Oh, okay, I'm glad someone chastised her for that.
I tend to think such things are not spontaneous and that she is trying to get some attention. But that's politics I suppose.
