New season! This freakin forum has a post regarding practically every TV show, but weirdly enough not True Blood?

What's new for this season you ask?

Incest.

Gave up on True Blood sometime during season 3. Watched the premiere tonight though. Incest was quite random.

There used to be a thread. Lost a lot of momentum after last season's 'witch' theme, at least for me.

I was underwhelmed with the season opener.

Really? I thought last season sucked, and that this started off in a direction that made me think the series is improving.

Also, not real incest. They aren't related, they just had the same maker.

Minor trivia - the new character that played Marcus' mom is a Bearden High alum from around 1979 (Dale Dickey). She was also the old hooker in My Name is Earl.

She was also awesome in a little indie flick called Winter's Bone

Watched episode 1 of the new season last night. So far, seems much better than last year. Looks like there will be some interesting story lines. Tera as a mindless vamp should be interesting.

Just looked her up. She has an impressive list of credits on IMDB. I wonder how much she will be used in True Blood.

glad there's still original thinking in Hollywood

on the originality question - I think the Game of Thrones work is pretty original; particularly in it's scope, it's approach of not having the good guys win and the 3rd party narrative structured in chapters around individual characters.

Currently the best show on television

If by 'original idea' one must create a brand new environment (to include setting and creatures) for every story, then no.

There was something I read that showed that basically every plot that occurs in all writing today shares the same plot as one of four ancient literary masterpieces. I wish I could remember which 4 they are other than the Odyssey.

First thoughts would be:

The Iliad
Oedipus Rex

and...?
