It is supposed to be to tell them he isn't going anywhere.

Seems like DC is getting a lot of attention now.

It's important he get the word out to the cadets so they don't transfer to Army or Navy.

Even though I know this is tongue in cheek...I think you actually make a good point. I don't think he would be a good fit. Most kids coming out of highschool DON'T have the type of dicipline that he's used to being around and coaching and it would be a distraction for him imho and take away from his actual coaching of football itself.

Just being honest.

I'm not excited about what I'm reading today as far as possibilities of who our next coach may be. :disappointed:

I'd rather Navy be closed and, frankly, we need both the deteriorate in the near term, since we were stupid enough to abandon the option.

The teams that won with the wishbone was in the 1970's!!!! There will NEVER be a national champion that runs the triple option. Do you see the NFL trending that way...not no but H3ll no. You do not go into a marriage hoping that the other person will change after the wedding...you do not hire a coach who runs the triple option and hope they can run a good pro-style..or spread offense better. Get a coach who is an expert at what they do. If you want a 'clean program' with a 'respectable' coach, take national championship and sec titles off your list of requirements for that person/program....and don't be upset when we lose to Wyoming on homecoming.

Calhoun is by far the best coach being mentioned IMO. He has NFL experience, military discipline, and proven success "with less". He fielded the nation's leading pass D in a pass happy conference with service academy players.

Perhaps most importantly, he's a guy who can start to rebuild an image of trust and integrity with recruits and players.

He was OC for the Houston Texans...pretty sure he knows how to run a pro-style offense.

I agree with all the anti-calhoun posters...he needs to stay at AFA where he can continue to mold young men of character into future leaders of the finest military unit in the world...the U.S. Air Force. :salute:

Besides he doesn't have enough experience to deal with players with off-field 'issues'.

Good luck Vols....I too hope he stays at AF.

I don't think Calhoun and Kippy were on the same staff with the Texans. Kippy's last season there was '05. Calhoun's only season there was '06. :dunno:

Really? Is the "Wildcat" just another form of the option? How many teams have started running plays out of that? It may not be the triple option, but the NFL has most definitely changed over the past 3-5 years and incorporates a lot more option than it use to.

But you are correct that the NFL won't go to the 3-O simply b/c of the wear and tear on QB's and RB's.

But then again, UT isn't exactly in the NFL...

Hehe...I do enjoy watching that game...Nebraska was a mean lean killing machine running the OPTION offense everybody here hates so much...Ask UF how much they enjoyed getting stomped in the mud by that...Oh and hey, Ask some of OUR players how they liked playing against it....TWICE! :eek:hmy: But oh no it would never work in the SEC :eek:lol:

Bama ran the wishbone under the Bear. It was a good offense. Just don't get behind, or your cooked. Calhoun would not run the here triple option here. Not sure where all you all get that.
