Trophy ceremony was dumb

...those Chick-fil-a helmet trophies tho...

Single game trophies have been around for a long time. It is not uncommon and if any single game is deserving of one the Battle at Bristol was certainly deserving.

Just for the record, it was a whiskey barrel - Jack Daniels vs Old Barton. Jack wanted to fill it and sell it!

GO VOLS!!

I am ok with it. It is another thing to show off during recruiting visits.
"Check out this from BoB, come here and play in front of record crowds"

Just wanted to say I had a great time at the pilot flying J food city check into cash Goodyear battle at Bristol. GuysÂ…its a nascar trackÂ…ever heard a driver give an interview? They'll plug 35 sponsors in a 45 second answer.

Yes it was. The way we train our players to go after a loose ball is better than the way App St and VTech train their players.

And we are lucky. Any time a football is bouncing on the ground, luck becomes a factor.

Go Vols!

Thousands of people die in diamond mines (blood diamonds) but we keep putting them on trophies and champ rings. Just saying!

Thousands die yearly in automobile accidents, yet we keep driving vehicles to games.

Regular season games with trophies isn't a new concept....in fact we used to have one we played for every year.

Yall will find anything to ***** about.

I was going to mention the old beer barrel, but that is one of those long term historically tradition games like the little brown jug, or Ohio St-Michigan, etc.

A one time gimmick game like this seemed a little odd to have a trophy ceremony, but whatever.

What in the world was up with the Supebowl/ bowl game style Celebration for a Regular season win? (Hats, Shirts, Confetti, trophy) I'm all for being excited for Big wins , but over hyping this game significance other than it being a huge venue is ridiculous. Don't get me wrong I love that we played In the game and came away with a win, but I'm worried we will lose focus celebrating this win for too long.

Ohio wil come to play , they have a good run game. In no way do I think it will be like App State but it will be closer than expected , if we come out Flat again

Let's see...

First marquee college game ever held in that venue.

Blew the previous attendance record out of the water.

Hyped up for the past couple of years. Hugely hyped going into it.

It was put on by a neutral venue's owner, who can do whatever he wants at the end.

It was a monumental occasion for both teams getting to play in said venue.

Perhaps as the first time that's ever been done a little celebration and special recognition could be in order. What? Are you going to tell Brunton Smith what he can and can't do inside his own racetrack at the end of the game?

If you are worrying about Ohio, I think there are far better things to be concerned about than a bit of confetti and a trophy that will look dandy in the case on campus.

I think most of us agree it was over the top.

OTOH, it gave the team a chance to feel a little bit of what it would feel like to win something more important -- kind of like a dress rehearsal. Whet their appetites for the real thing and make them a bit hungrier for it, maybe. We can hope.

Let's do it again every 2 to 3 years just to raise a ton of money for the program. Maybe the Athletic Department will take it a little easier on us for donations. Lol. Sure thing.

The celebration was a bit much but what ever. Glad it was us that did the celebrating.
