Trophy ceremony was dumb

A trophy ceremony after the game? That was lame. A marketing gimmick. I'm not sure whose idea it was--but you don't give out a trophy for a regular season game or because the crowd was the biggest ever. If I'm the coaches, I would not want to participate, but I'm sure Jones had no choice. Or maybe he enjoyed it!

I can see maybe talking to the winning coach on a field stage after the game or giving plaques to both athletic departments to commemorate the crowd, but trophies are for athletic championships--or should be--not crowd size.

Thanks for figuring all that out for us. I am enlightened.

Not sure what the problem is. BMS and Pilot put that stuff together. It's not as if UT brought confetti guns to celebrate their win. It wasn't much different than a Nascar winners circle presentation. They're kids, jeez.

Again, anyone want to tell Brunton Smith and his marketing team they can't do it?

For crying out loud people, there are far worse things to whine about. Some of you all need to just log off and ***** and moan at your own kitchen table. Stop using the internet to prove to the world you are the village idiot.

Ask yourselves this question: If Florida was getting a trophy, dropping confetti, handing out rings to players, along with t-shirts proclaiming them champions, for beating North Carolina State in Daytona Speedway, this thread would have 500 posts by Vols fans making fun of it. You know I'm right.

No that would be cool. Putting made up championship years on your stadium in 2016 would be absolutely ridiculous, oh wait.

This game brought in over 500 million dollars in Revenue to our region. I have no problem with these kids getting a small token of appreciation.

I don't know, but I don't think that the two would be comparable:

Winning division over the course of a season

vs.

Winning a particular game

Hate to break it to you, but you guys play trophy games too.

FWIW, Tech got rings too.

Not from this fan. Honestly I wouldn't give a sh!t. Just like I don't give a sh!t about this celebration.. The team and staff had nothing to do with this other than being there.

As a fan, the only celebrations I care about are the ones that come at the end of the season, not the beginning

I guess that makes it .... better?

Just curious, should they have turned down the trophy and gifts? Honestly some of you people need to step back and take a look at your lives. My goodness.

It was reported Each team made 4 mil from game. The people that put the money up probably wanted a trophy presentation for their investment. They got the presentation and UT got 4 mil......no brainer

yes it was. The way we train our players to go after a loose ball is better than the way app st and vtech train their players.

And we are lucky. Any time a football is bouncing on the ground, luck becomes a factor.

Go vols!

I am liking your post. I hope you don't think that this positive feedback means you can stop making quality posts like this. In general, I suspect that all humans who are not me do not have the maturity to endure even the slightest praise and still be good at what they do.

In reality, the players should be constantly and persistently derided for every moment that they are not the greatest football team ever assembled, as we all know how that is what builds up team mental strength in a football program. No masochistic and joyless scream-monger, like a Will Muschamp, has ever had a team quit on them.

Also, there should be no like button on Volnation, but I am liking your post--which merely demonstrates the quality that every Volnation post should achieve. I am doing this wholly as a test of your character and as a way to monitor your post-quality going forward.

Also . . .

Also....WTF?

I did not see this part on tv, was out, but it is being mocked over on swampgas. Something about getting hats, too? Did they really pass out hats for the players for that?

Do you really think that anyone on here other than you and the other gator fans that can't stay away really give twos shiites about some website called swampgas? If you do you are sadly delusional....oh wait, it's LG.
