Oh yes they did. Check the stats, watch the players. Watch the game. They most certainly did. We had 35 yds of total offense after Burtons long TD in the 3rd that only tied it. This team lost composure and quit while tied.
I was there. watching Smith and the defense try and pump up a crowd that was walking to the exits with 9 minutes left was pathetic. People can spin this how They want, but a good portion of the "fans" quit well before this game was over. The offense couldn't make adjustments, and the defense gave up big plays on missed assignments but they sure as hell didn't quit.
He's right, and i will continue to leave the games until they give me a reason to stay there.
Oh. Ok...... I would love to be proven wrong by my Vols. I'd love to see the play like I know they can. But I've seen them quit for a few years now, and saw it last night.
I've seen quit before as well. Several times. I didn't see it last night. We went away from the things that were working, and the change from 4-3 to the 3-4 showed last night. missed assignments on d killed us in the long run. I still say the team didn't quit. No stats are going to make me feel different especially after watching the game live. Sorry man, just a difference in opinions.
is the hours all of these kids put into practice not enough for you to want to actually support them to the bitter in
IMO it is about SUPPORTING our players who give their time and health to UT.... nothing more nothing less
If people think our finicky, spoiled fans getting up and leaving is bad, they should take a look at the 2008 Florida game, when Vol fans boo'ed their own team. Most of our players, and most recruits, have played long enough to know that when you start getting creamed, some of your fans are going to head for the exits.
As for me, I wasn't at the game, but I was still watching with 2 minutes left like some dumb fool, thinking "if we can get a turnover, score, get an onside kick, score, and get another onside kick, we might have a chance!"
They're front-runners, said Trey Burton, one of Saturday night's heroes. They talk a lot and as soon as we got up a little their fans starting leaving.
Why should the fans feel obligated to sit there and watch the team sort of go through the motions? And "going through the motions" is being kind to the players. They were barely even doing that by the 4th quarter.
They aren't obligated.
But take a look at this board.
Does it look like a reasonable bunch of people to you?
One week we're discussing 10 wins, etc.
The next week a strange contingent is foaming at the mouth to hire Bobby Petrino.
