Trey Burton calls us "front runners"

Anyone with eyes could see that our team quit with about 9 minutes left in the game. The fan base was loud and behind the team until then. It's ridiculous that the team just gave up with that much time left. There is no excuse for it and it Made me sick. I'm sorry but you don't see other teams with half the talent we have give up like we do. We have to learn to fight through it and respond.

Tennessee has the frontrunningest fans nation wide..

Yes.I know thats not a word and you want Dooley fired this week.

What else is new?

Oh yes they did. Check the stats, watch the players. Watch the game. They most certainly did. We had 35 yds of total offense after Burtons long TD in the 3rd that only tied it. This team lost composure and quit while tied.

I was there. watching Smith and the defense try and pump up a crowd that was walking to the exits with 9 minutes left was pathetic. People can spin this how They want, but a good portion of the "fans" quit well before this game was over. The offense couldn't make adjustments, and the defense gave up big plays on missed assignments but they sure as hell didn't quit.

Oh. Ok...... I would love to be proven wrong by my Vols. I'd love to see the play like I know they can. But I've seen them quit for a few years now, and saw it last night.

"It was a great game for us," said Trey Burton, who now works minimum wage as a Gym Teacher's Assistant in Pahokee, Florida, "I was so proud to be a Florida Gator" - Trey Burton, 2014.

You shouldn't knock anyone since you probably make minimum wage yourself.

He's right, and i will continue to leave the games until they give me a reason to stay there.

is the hours all of these kids put into practice not enough for you to want to actually support them to the bitter in

IMO it is about SUPPORTING our players who give their time and health to UT.... nothing more nothing less

I've seen quit before as well. Several times. I didn't see it last night. We went away from the things that were working, and the change from 4-3 to the 3-4 showed last night. missed assignments on d killed us in the long run. I still say the team didn't quit. No stats are going to make me feel different especially after watching the game live. Sorry man, just a difference in opinions.

Maybe so. But like I said, I'd love for them to play like they can. I hope last night doesn't affect them going forward.

Maybe they ought to do one of those "This is Tennessee" videos showing the stadium clock and the fans rushing the exists. I never leave the game early, too cheap. I figure I pay hard money for a ticket and I am going to squeeze every second out of it.

I was there yelling my heart out(can barley talk with my voice being gone). When the players look uninterested into finishing or giving me hope that we can make a comeback, then i will be there until the clock hits 00:00

He has a point, but he also needs to check his own fans. Fla returned thousands of tickets and had the smallest contingent I've seen at a UT-Fla game. I've been to every UT-Fla game in Neyland since 1990 and that was easily the worst Fla turnout. Why was that? Economy, 2 straight mediocre seasons or worried that UT would win? The fact is, every fan base has front running, bandwagon fans. Look no further than Bama for proof.

If people think our finicky, spoiled fans getting up and leaving is bad, they should take a look at the 2008 Florida game, when Vol fans boo'ed their own team. Most of our players, and most recruits, have played long enough to know that when you start getting creamed, some of your fans are going to head for the exits.

As for me, I wasn't at the game, but I was still watching with 2 minutes left like some dumb fool, thinking "if we can get a turnover, score, get an onside kick, score, and get another onside kick, we might have a chance!"

I'm honestly surprised they didn't get booed last night. The level of effort the team put forth after halftime certainly warranted it.

Front runners is being a bit kind to the fanbase.

Why should the fans feel obligated to sit there and watch the team sort of go through the motions? And "going through the motions" is being kind to the players. They were barely even doing that by the 4th quarter.

“They're front-runners,” said Trey Burton, one of Saturday night's heroes. “They talk a lot and as soon as we got up a little their fans starting leaving.”

trey is also talking about gator fans because that is exactly how they are. last year in jacksonville most of the gator fans left with more than 10 minutes to go in the 4th quarter. it was pathetic and that game wasn't at all out of reach.

They aren't obligated.

But take a look at this board.

Does it look like a reasonable bunch of people to you?

One week we're discussing 10 wins, etc.

The next week a strange contingent is foaming at the mouth to hire Bobby Petrino.

I certainly wasn't discussing 10 wins, unless it was to call someone a fool for thinking that was possible. I didn't even think we would beat UF, but, much like last year, I though our days of looking like we don't belong on the field with the top half of the SEC were over. Once again I was wrong, just like the last 2 years, we didn't even compete with them. That's what disappointing to me.
