I hate Athens lol. I had a horrible experience in 2022. I would say I hate UGA fans the most of any team. I undoubtedly hate the Bama program itself the most of any team, but UGA fans are definitely the worst in the SEC imo.

Also, everyone in the SEC seems to have this weird veneration for that city and I wasn’t that impressed. It’s good. Definitely in the top 5 SEC college towns, but a lot of people act like it’s superior to Knoxville by a good margin and I don’t see that at all.

While Georgia's campus has some aesthetically nice areas, Athens itself is generally a festering boil of a town aside from a few good restaurants and breweries.

Yup. Been there in football offseason for various reasons. Most overrated SEC city in the conference.

If one is coming from the East Tennessee area, would Madison be a little bit out of the way?
Madison to the stadium is 30 mins. We have some great eateries here.
Madison Produce - Sandwich shop
Town 220 - upscale steak house
Ricardo's - semi-upscale restaurant
Madison Chop House - Local restaurant similar to Applebees (good most of the time)

Tennessee Georgia a must win game for the Georgia Bulldogs because it’s very unlikely they could reach the 12 team playoffs with 3 Losses.
The door is still open for 2 loss teams to make the 12 team playoffs.

It has probably been mentioned before, but keep an eye on your vehicle speeds coming into and moving around the city. I work in the area, and saw more ACCPD officers out (and in different spots) than usual during my lunch break, particularly on the 10 Loop. No doubt GSP will be heavy on 316 coming in from the west as well. Stay frosty, and GBO!

Yeah, but not all of them. Tennessee could easily be on the committee's chopping block. Ole Miss beating UGA didn't help us. I just don't want this guy......

Last-minute bookings can be tricky, but there are a few options you could try. Look into smaller boutique hotels or guesthouses just outside the city center—sometimes they offer better deals than the big chains. Airbnb or Vrbo can also be good for budget-friendly options, especially if you don’t mind staying a little further from the main attractions.

For my summer trip to Florida, I had the same issue and ended up finding a great resort on River Country Water Park | Westgate River Ranch Resort & Rodeo after some digging online. They had good prices and plenty of amenities, so it saved me a lot of hassle. Maybe Athens has a similar local platform or hidden gems—it’s worth doing a quick search to see if anything pops up! Good luck, and enjoy Athens—it’s an amazing city!

Just put on an UGAly football jersey and tell the officer that you're part of the team. They'll let you go as fast as you want if you do!
