Trade Wars and Tariffs

I don’t play in the market.
I do property.
But I was referring to my current business venture.
And I’m fixing ta launch another
I don’t pick stocks. Not with money I need anyway. Was referring to my tax advantaged retirement accounts under professional management. They’re paid to navigate either type of admin. And they’ve done ok by me.

Who is your pro? I have one account that I let Fidelity manage and they have done pretty well, and like you said it really doesn't matter which party is in power... so far. I think the next time the left is in power though that will all change.

I think nobody should pay taxes.
I think the government should have a budget they have to live within and that budget is a % of GDP. Print that for the government to operate every year and call that inflation.

But nobody asked me
Well yeah, I agree with you 1000%. But that isn't reality. The government is addicted to OUR money so they are going to take what they want.

We should stop those credits. But a bite is a bite. Drug dealers buy stuff too.

Gut tax code preferences and Im willing to go along with some targeted tariffs to get fiscal house in order (i.e., everyone has skin in the game and is paying something). It's better than bottom 60%+ being in a cumulative net income tax refund position....

But until we fix the spending, it really doesnt matter....

You are the one that laughed at my statement. Explain why you laughed. My response to you was pretty straightforward
I laughed because the premise you put forth was really stupid to me. And mojo indicated why. And I’ve already replied to another of your posts where tax code modification instead of idiotic illegal tariffs were put forth.

Then we should modify the tax code to ensure a broader participation rate by the population? Like say a flat tax rate? And look at that, that doesn’t require any idiotic illegal tariffs either!
I have no problem with Neil Boortz's Fair Tax. That ain't gonna happen either.

So let me rephrase: What realistic way of ensuring that everyone has skin in the game is there other than tariffs?

And again. that is pie in the sky. Ain't gonna happen.

You and I can red line that all day long and it still isn't gonna happen.

I think it’s pretty sad that you think tariffs will actually provide a quantifiable offset. This is your big plan give me an example.

Your last sentence is the driver. And I know you you that. Until spending is curbed they will just up spending to consume any revenue increase.

It isn't MY plan Chief. But if they truly are leveling the international playing field and have some responsibility for bringing companies back to US soil, I'm good with it. But like other things Trump has done (NATO payments for example) if they DO level the playing field, then like I said, I'm good with them.

It doesn't matter how much money the .gov collects. Until they stop spending more than that, nothing matters. Somehow I guess that your particular ox is getting gored, so that is why all the hate.

We’ve gone over this before. You weren’t interested. They use Fidelity as their custodian only it’s the NFS commercial side of the house not 401k.com retail side. I have my HSA and a brokerage acct with the retail side though. And my pro is nothing special it’s who’s models they use. That’s back of house and the provider for this services is Kestra for my wealth manager.
