Trade Wars and Tariffs

Believe your last sentence should be.

Based on your grammar, I thought that pictures would be more effective.

Thanks for playing. Next.
Lol only 7:30 in K town and you’re screaming thru baby powder already kid 😂

Your lousy grammar was all the evidence I needed to clearly see pictographs would likely be more effective

  • Usage: Indicates a direct, causal relationship or the primary evidence used to reach a conclusion.
  • Example: "The report is based on the survey data."
  • Context: Often used in formal, data-driven contexts, or when stating the premise of an argument

Considering

ETA: I just noticed you edited your reply. You had “considering” and changed it back to “based on”. I guess you realized they are largely synonyms and covered your tracks. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Danth's Law (sometimes referred to as Parker's Law) is an Internet adage stating, “If you have to insist that you've won an internet argument, you've probably lost badly”. It originated on the RPG.net forums to describe a situation where a person,, unable to accept defeat, claims victory.

And kid you take probably the most self proclaimed victory laps out of anybody in this forum.

The left has been saying consumers pay the tariffs, so consumers should be sent rebate checks not any business.

The left has been wrong about everything...think it would get embarrassing.

USSC ruling was silent about refunds. That would take a new round of litigation that can take years over 175 billion in refunds....if businesses raised their prices to cover the cost of tariffs then why should they get a refund? Then they have no real claim to a refund and in getting a refund businesses are simply trying to double the money they made by raising prices and then getting a refund check from the gov't on top of raising prices to cover the cost of tariffs.

On the other hand, if businesses 'deserve' a refund because of the cost of tariffs they paid, then that proves they "ate the tariff" and did not pass the cost of tariffs on to consumers as leftist claimed they did.

$175 billion in refunds compared to the entitlement fraud that cost taxpayers up to $521 billion annually, according to Government Accountability Office (GAO) estimates.

Refund checks are not 'in the mail'

It's a mix. American citizens ordering direct from foreign merchants paid import taxes. American companies that imported paid import duties too; some of the costs were absorbed, some were passed on to customers. It can't be oversimplified by saying 100% of the duties were paid by large companies or 100% were paid by consumers. You have to look at it based on what happens in the real world.

refunds should not go to anyone who does not deserve them. If a business raised its prices to cover the tariff cost then it deserves no refund.

Read the room Donnie. Your tariff strategy sux. And so does your handling of the economy. So say two out of three registered voters.

The subheading to that article is wild:

Fox News poll shows 63% disapproval despite $30.4B collected in January alone, up 275% from previous year

Breaking news: Americans aren't fond of paying 275% in new taxes.

You know the old joke about arguing with one of the leg humpers is like playing chess with a pigeon?

Costco does extensive research figuring out what producrs its customers like and would like to see and how much they'd pay for it. Costco identifies the foreign vendor, does quality testing of vendor's product, takes on some of the reputational risk of vendor, negotiates price, terms. Costco lets the vendor use its global supply chain network, which includes transport, customs, storage, etc. Costco pays the tarrifs in this circumstance.

Costco took all of the risks in this circumstance. They took all of the financial risk. They took the risks as to whether they could make a profit on the product vs taking a loss. They were the entity that directly paid the tarrifs. They should get the refund.

Here is another example. I have a rental property. Shelby County TN gave me some horsheshit property tax appraisal. I had to bump up the rent for the next tenant to cover the increase. I fought the obvious horseshit appraisal and the County it. Do I have to give me tenant a refund?

Is this supposed to be analogous to the tariff situation? I want to understand your contention here.

Im saying the person who bore the actual economic risk of paying a horseshit tax is who should get any refund and not the end customer who made a choice to purchase said product at a set price....

If the tax was imposed illegally, then making everyone whole again is the responsibility of those imposing the illegal tax.

I think it’s much more basic mojo. The admin needs to return the illegally taken money from whomever they took it from. That is obviously the importer of record. Don’t give this admin any excuse to invent reasons to pay bribes to voters in an election year. 🤷‍♂️

Damn. This reminds me of the end of 8 Mile, when Eminem's opponent had nothing left to say after his one and only go-to response got addressed in advance

I don’t actually remember much about that movie I’ll have to go google the ending to get the reference. But that kid always has that play. I often refer to him as Topper from Dilbert

I haven't seen it in a while either and had to double check, but thankfully I was right in remembering that part of Eminem's last verse was "here's what he's going to say about me" and then the other guy had nothing left
