Oh the admin has done some good on pharma. There was a discussion this morning on the GLP-1 costs for Medicare that’s great. There’s still trillions in other investments. Like pharma?
Is “initiated” committed of executed?
I may be mistaken, but I thought your stance is about the tariff %’s and little to no focus on the foreign non-trade barriers and domestic investment. I may have you confused with another poster.Ok I’ll take your word for it. I didn’t even look at it since from previous postings of that site here it’s obvious![]()
For example you can likely still find the announcement of the method used to calculate the initial tariffs which are an abuse of basic algebra and even the author of the source they referenced said they did it wrong.
I might be. I have been an outspoken critic of baseless nature of these idiot tariffs regardless of context. You did ping me on non trade barriers but my stance remained that the emergency powers basis is wrong and the tariff evaluation methodology is laughable 3rd grade math.I may be mistaken, but I thought your stance is about the tariff %’s and little to no focus on the foreign non-trade barriers and domestic investment. there are better, and Constitutional, ways to do each of those.Tariffs are a better alternative to military based sanctions.
Building supply chains that prevent the US from ever being dependent on non-domestic sources is strategically necessary.
Investments in US manufacturing creates jobs.
The economic impact isn’t the only factor.
BTW, Biden nearly doubled the tariff on Canadian lumber. Trump’s not the only POTUS to use tariffs as a component of his policy.

Fact Sheet: President Donald J. Trump Announces “Fair and Reciprocal Plan” on Trade
THE “FAIR AND RECIPROCAL PLAN”: Today, President Donald J. Trump signed a Presidential Memorandum ordering the development of a comprehensive plan forwww.whitehouse.gov

Trump chose tariffs to act tuff and pretend like he got something done. long enough for the system to catch up to him and stop him, where he will play the victim so his followers will complain about "activist" judges.
It remains to be seen on whether the system will stop him or not but right now it sure looks like at least a simple majority vote should be easily achievablethere are better, and Constitutional, ways to do each of those.

Congress giving up control/power of the purse will not happen I don't care what you think. It remains to be seen on whether the system will stop him or not but right now it sure looks like at least a simple majority vote should be easily achievable
I’m not advocating for that. Right now this isn’t up to Congress and frankly they’ve passed the buck to SCOTUS to deal with it. To me it’s clear that SCOTUS should kill all of these emergency powers based tariffs.Congress giving up control/power of the purse will not happen I don't care what you think.
Enough is Enough --- It all sounds good when he tells it, but it ain't all that.
I'm already annoyed at the thought of how many posters are going to use the stupid term “lawfare”there are better, and Constitutional, ways to do each of those.

No matter how you choose to phrase it tariffs are a tax on US consumers. Tariffs are collected and the government is the end recipient. It's a Trump curveball vs a fastball which was expected. His way of thinking.

THE LIES
November 10, 2025 (Truth Social and Oval Office remarks): Trump wrote and said that a negative SCOTUS ruling would trigger an "unwind" exceeding $3 trillion in investments, returns, and funds, which "would not be possible to ever make up for... It would truly become an insurmountable National Security Event, and devastating to the future of our Country - Possibly non-sustainable!" He described it as an "economic and national security disaster."
REALITY
Total customs duties (the category dominated by tariffs) for Fiscal Year 2025 (October 1, 2024–September 30, 2025) reached a record $195 billion, more than tripling the $77 billion collected in FY 2024. This surge equates to a $118 billion increase attributable to the new tariffs
YET TRUMP WANTS TO REFUND $600 BILLION TO US
President Donald Trump's proposal to send Americans $2,000 rebate checks from money collected through his tariffs is projected to cost $600 billion.
So to sum:
(1) Trump says it would be an "economic and national security disaster" if SCOTUS forces him to refund the extra tariff money collected to date;
(2) Those tariffs have amounted to an extra $118 billion in taxes; yet
(3) Trump *wants* to give us all $600 billion back. $482 billion dollars more than what our country would have to pay back if SCOTUS shoots his tariffs down.
STABLE. GENIUS.

Ergo, Trump is knowingly and willfully *trying* to create an "economic and national security disaster" that would be 4 x worse than the purported disaster when he loses in court.
STABLE. GENIUS.
